Waltonen Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Apprentice in Troy, Michigan
Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team!
Responsibilities
Assist in operating and inspecting various machines and equipment, including defense vehicles, to diagnose defects and identify maintenance needs
Support the dismantling and reassembling of equipment efficiently, ensuring proper functioning.
Use hoists and a variety of hand tools to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks under supervision
Examine parts for damage, wear, or other issues, making necessary adjustments or replacements as directed
Collaborate with senior mechanic and the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and adherence to project schedules
Qualifications
Some experience or training in mechanics, preferably with diesel engines and heavy equipment
Must possess the physical stamina to perform maintenance tasks while standing for extended periods
A valid driver’s license is required, along with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Basic knowledge of PCs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software products
Only United States citizens can be considered for this position
Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience or training with military vehicles is a plus
Basic welding experience would be a valuable addition to your skill set
