Job Description

As the Manager of Manufacturing Process Capability, you will work close with the Heads of technology, Heads of GTC, regional Heads of ME/CoE and CTO Office to ensure that GKN’s future offering to its customers has the best Industrial solution to give the business the edge over its competitors. The function will consist of both Industrial Architects and Zero Defect Capability Leaders. Industrial Architect will set the standard of the manufacturing system in the pre LG3 phase to maximize the appropriate use of technologies and methods to help deliver a winning business case. It is also a vital role in terms of building strong technical relationships within our organization and customer portfolio. Zero Defect Capability Leaders are responsible for leading the ZD philosophy through the APQP process. The area of ​​responsibility also includes developing and operationally supporting the organization of our global NPI process. This means planning and implementing training as well as providing support to the ME organization to achieve zero defects in the manufacturing process or products.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for complex industrial systems and manufacturing processes prior to LG3. This includes full understanding of the customers’ requirements, designing the factory layout, leverage of H1 & H2 technologies, deploying lean manufacturing principles.

  • Close engagement with the Design organization on design/make programs to ensure DFM.

  • Collaborate with senior management, engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure a smooth transition from the technology development phase (pre LG3) to the Industrialization phase (post LG3) together with the Operational side of the business and its Industrialization/ME manager.

  • Work closely with the Product Family/CoE/Site to ensure the Industrial concept is capable in the post LG3 to LG7 phase

  • Build strong relationships with our current and potential customers.

  • Manage the control of GKN intellectual property where required.

  • Developing the Zero Defects Manufacturing mindset and culture including related industrialization.

  • Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) defining policies, procedures and guidelines based upon the APQC Framework (Levels 1-4) for ZDM

  • Responsible for ZDM deployment plans in collaboration with Site Heads of ME to ensure flow-down of requirements and incorporation into local management systems.

  • Developing in collaboration with HR Learning & Development, Global Training library for ME training required, ect. Insource and train the trainers for ZDM in GKN Engines.

  • Ability to travel (including internationally) as and when the role dictates.

  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and technological advancements in the aerospace industry.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the aerospace industry.

  • Proven self-starter who can work well within a team or on your own.

  • Expertise in CAD software (e.g. TeamCenter. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).

  • Proven experience in project management (e.g. NPI) and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • In-depth knowledge of certification processes and quality standards in aerospace (e.g., AS13100).

  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

    Travel requirements The position is based in Trollhättan, Sweden, as such the applicant should be able to get the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within both Sweden, EU and US is expected.
