Summary About the Position: Serves as Consumer Safety Officer assigned to PHC-P. Plans, develops and conducts Initial, Routine, Directed, and Special Food Protection Audits of commercial food establishments for the command throughout Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, United States territories located in the Pacific, and countries located in the USINDOPACOM area of operation (AOR). Responsibilities Performs the duties in the Food Protection Program within the Veterinary Services Division (VSD) of the US Army Public Health Command-Pacific (PHC-P). Responsible for assisting with planning, conducting, reporting and evaluation of food defense assessments and programs. Specialized experience is defined as: Conducts on the job food protection audit training for Veterinary Corps officers and enlisted personnel. Prepares, reviews, and submits technical audit reports of commercial food establishments for approval. Performs audit administrative tasks to include screening audit reports submitted by auditors within the region for accuracy, completion, technical data, and quality in a timely manner. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Customer Service Strategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in quality assurance or a related degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: consumer laws, biological sciences, food science, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, legal investigations, law enforcement, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours may include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming. (transcripts are required) OR Combination of education and experience--courses consisting of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in paragraph A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
