The Hard-working Systems Team (SST) is a part of the Modeling and Data Sciences technology organization at Air Products. SST supports key initiatives and improves the competitiveness and operational efficiencies in our existing and next-generation offerings by developing novel digital solutions and technologies in condition monitoring, reliability/risk modeling, dynamic modeling, IIoT, and new technology development & evaluation. SST delivers digital solutions for supporting operating assets, businesses, R&D, and next-generation environmentally responsible energy technologies. SST works in close collaboration with the Engineering, Technology, and Operational teams to deliver driven world-leading solutions.

The successful candidate is responsible for developing, conducting, and participating in technical studies involving industrial gas process and product development with an emphasis on next generation AI/ML technologies development for Condition monitoring, Process modeling, simulation, and digital solution development. The candidate will be leading the development of digital solutions and AI models for operational. technology and engineering analytics projects; work together with other members in the development of digital solutions for plant data. The candidate will work as part of a multi-functional research, engineering, and operation team, developing conceptual and detailed designs of AI models, simulation systems, and digital solutions. This position requires a broad engineering background and a deep understanding of computational technologies including AI, machine learning, simulation, data technologies and cloud computing. The candidate will be required to solve a diverse variety of problems, which involve the use of advanced AI/M algorithms, simulation, and data technologies applied to engineering, technology and operational processes. Existing project areas where the candidate can expect to be involved include: Support/Lead development of data analytics programs in technology, operation and engineering using next gen AI models. Be responsible for and lead the development work of existing and new projects working with outside software development specialists, responsible for their schedule, performance, and product delivery. Work with operational teams and other team members to advance and support operational analytics platforms for global AP assets. Advance the computational capabilities of AP in technology, operational data analytics, digital twins, and new IIoT based operational data technology development. Collaborate with business/product owners to understand the business needs and create ideas to support these needs and offer solutions. Write technical and scientific reports, project proposals, conference papers, and speaking publicly at academic and industrial events. The candidate will learn sophisticated computational technology libraries and software as needed for specific projects so that the following skills will be helpful: Experience in AI/ML model development in R/Python Experience in developing applications to aid data-driven decisions using ML/AI libraries, database solutions, and cloud/HPC computing. Experience in time-series and plant data analysis Familiarity with the state-of-the-art AI/Gen AI modeling methods/techniques Interest in understanding business needs and passion in developing programs to support those needs. Qualifications / Skills Position requires an advanced degree in Computer Science / Engineering with background in AI, Gen AI, engineering time series analysi , plant data systems, and data sciences. Programming skills in Python/R platforms, use of data science libraries, and cloud and GPU technologies Track record of developing data analytics/hybrid first principal AI/ML based solutions for technology, plant data analysis, operational problems using advanced machine learning and data technologies Creative & innovative with a positive demeanor Ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Strong verbal and written communications skills
