NJM Insurance Storage Engineer in Trenton, New Jersey
Position Summary:
install, configure, and perform daily management of the data protection solutions
design and test data recovery in simulated disaster recovery and malware related events
technical lead for the team in quarterly Disaster Recovery exercises
install, configure, and perform daily operational management of the storage environment
install, configure, and perform daily management of fiber channel storage area networks
perform capacity management and end-to-end performance monitoring of the managed environments
maintain, upgrade, and manage the lifecycles of the storage and data protection hardware/software
produce reports that provide visibility into the current state of the shared storage environment
Job Responsibilities:
Data Management:
Implement and continually improve data protection and data security
Verify and validate backup data through quarterly restore testing
Investigate technologies to pro-actively run malware scans of backup data
Review the daily backup reports and replication reports and identity/resolve issues
Incident Management:
Take ownership of incidents, work to resolution and identify root cause
Work with various IT teams when need to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Operations and monitoring:
Daily monitoring and reporting of data backup and recovery activities
Storage management: block and NAS capacity allocations, SAN zoning, etc.
Maintain storage applications: patching, upgrades, feature configuration
Perform daily monitoring and performance analysis of the storage and backup components
Manage change requests, work orders and support tickets and see them through to completion
Support various computing environments:
Ability to identify and deliver solutions for on premise, cloud, and hybrid environments
Ability to understand and apply appropriate security concepts, controls, and processes
Participate in annual business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) testing.
Training:
Proactively stay in-step with technology changes through self-learning
Cross-train team members
Attend technical and security-oriented training sessions to learn new and develop existing skills
Network with peers
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience working in a production Information Technology environment
3+ years of experience managing Data Protection solutions/environments
hands-on experience working in support of a production IT environment
strong communication skills
ability to manage and escalate incidents and to see them through to resolution
experience supporting virtual environments and operating systems: windows, vmware, linux, aws-ec2
experience in documenting procedures, environments, and project work
participation in a 7-day on call rotation and occasional weekend work
hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in the office (Tuesday and Thursday mandatory), 2 days remote
