JOB SUMMARY:

As a Senior Software Engineer reporting to the Director of IT Application Development, you will lead application development within our shared service model by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance guest-facing solutions, improve performance, and address data gaps. This role will leverage your expertise in data modeling, agile practices, and business intelligence to drive strategic decision-making play a crucial role in Marriott’s application development within a shared service model. Your responsibilities include working closely with a cross-functional engineering team that will be directly collaborating with Application Development, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, and Information Security teams to deliver advancements in performance for mobile applications, web, and backend systems. This also includes identifying enhancements for guest-facing solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs, identifying performance opportunities, addressing data gaps in our guest-facing technology ecosystem, and engaging in data modeling through Marriott’s Data Platform using event-driven processes.

This role requires adhering to standard application development tools, processes, and practices to deliver industry-leading solutions, leveraging business intelligence experience to deliver actionable insights to support strategic guest-facing technology decision-making, analyzing complex business requirements, identifying opportunities, and implementing efficient solutions. Additionally, facilitating agile practices and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of application modeling and development experience

  • 5+ Demonstrated experience in Agile development methodologies, specifically with large-scale initiatives and geographically distributed teams.

  • 5+ years working on cross-functional, sourced, and matrixed teams

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with data warehousing, Snowflake, ETL processes, and big data technologies.

  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, SAS, R, Python, and SQL.

  • Experience with digital thought leadership fitting the scale of Marriott digital technologies

  • Experience with enterprise technology in hospitality, travel or retail industry.

  • Experience and working understanding with CDP technologies

Preferred:

  • Graduate/post graduate degree

  • Ability to derive meaningful insights from data and present them in a clear and actionable manner.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within cross-functional teams.

  • Experience aligning application development initiatives with business goals and strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience identifying and delivering performance improvements, features and capabilities in guest-facing technology and back-end systems.

  • Demonstrated with success where architecture meets performance, scalability, and security requirements.

  • Strong understanding of data quality, accuracy, and integrity across technology-based organizations.

  • Proven ability to mitigate project risks and issues while ensuring timely delivery.

  • Experience collaborating with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data performance.

  • Experience delivering detailed actions for key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.

  • Experience developing and delivering cross-team training for performance analysis.

  • Demonstrated success delivering medium to large-scale initiatives

  • Strong process management, influencing, and problem resolution skills

  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Knowledge of business environment, service requirements and hospitality culture

  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action

  • Ability to understand and communicate the lifecycle of technologies and applications and to translate into business strategies for the client organizations

  • Solid understanding of IT financial structures and ability to manage to corporate financial processes and standards - including drivers of process costs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy-to-understand business terms

  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and leading in a managed service environment

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $190,154 annually.

Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $116,205 to $209,169 annually.

New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually.

Washington, D.C. Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $105,641 to $190,154 annually.

Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
