We, at Leggett & Platt Flooring Products, are searching for a Batch Chemist to support our Tracy, California operation. This branch specializes in Carpet Underlay primarily using prime chemicals for flexible polyurethane foam products. The Batch Chemist will have oversight of chemical preparations for daily production. Duties will include but are not limited to, maintaining logs for usage, quality assurance, and environmental reporting. A successful candidate will be a strategic big-picture leader who empowers others to take ownership and pride in the branch operations.

Salary Range: $75,000-90,000

So, what will you be doing as a Batch Chemist?

  • Analyze chemical variances, and initiate plans with technical director to address problem areas.

  • Oversee daily chemical operations, ensuring chemical quality, safety, compliance and administration.

  • Work with the Branch manager to build an organization of strong technical and manufacturing talent to support the rapidly growing business.

  • Accomplishes objectives by establishing plans and measurements, while reviewing and reporting progress to management.

  • Coordinate efforts by establishing procurement, production, marketing, field, and technical services policies and practices.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable government, corporate and environmental, health and safety regulations.

  • Develop and implement procedures and processes to improve productivity.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/chemical engineering or equivalent experience

  • At least 3+ years in on-the-job experience

  • Analytical Lab experience – testing of product and materials

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills

    Things we consider a plus:

  • Experience with flexible polyurethane strongly preferred
