  • Full-time | 1st Shift

  • Tuesday - Saturday | 9:30 am – 5:00 pm

  • Regular Days Off: Sunday and Monday

  • However, flexibility is required to meet the needs of the agency.

  • May be required to work nights and weekends.

  • Will be required to travel.

    In your role as Developmental Services Residential Program Supervisor 1, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist in development and implementation of policies, programs, scheduling and operating procedures;

  • Direct, coordinate, evaluate and monitor performance of residential program unit including monitoring staff implementation of individual teaching strategies;

  • Confer with staff on routine operational, disciplinary and special problems;

  • Evaluate performance of individuals and employees in cooperation with assigned staff;

  • Conduct in-service training on intellectual disability practices and procedures and care of individuals;

  • Arrange individual search parties and coordinates emergency responses;

  • Review reports of subordinates and prepare periodic operational reports;

  • Make rounds to ensure units are clean and safe;

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Department of Developmental Services this class is accountable for assisting in the supervision and implementation of programs designed for individuals with an intellectual disability.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Assists in development and implementation of policies, programs, scheduling and operating procedures;

  • Directs, coordinates, evaluates and monitors performance of residential program unit including monitoring staff implementation of individual teaching strategies;

  • Confers with staff on routine operational, disciplinary and special problems;

  • Evaluates performance of individuals and employees in cooperation with assigned staff;

  • Conducts in-service training on intellectual disability practices and procedures and care of individuals;

  • Arranges individual search parties and coordinates emergency responses;

  • Reviews reports of subordinates and prepares periodic operational reports;

  • Makes rounds to ensure units are clean and safe;

  • May attend interdisciplinary team and administrative meetings;

  • May work with parent and community groups;

  • May counsel individuals or employees on problems;

  • May interview candidates for position openings;

  • May be assigned responsibility for orderly operation of facility on a shift;

  • May notify other departments of deficiencies and assist in implementing plans of correction within units;

  • Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Considerable knowledge of

  • intellectual disability procedures and terminology;

  • modern methods of dealing with individuals with an intellectual disability;

  • rehabilitative and interdisciplinary process;

  • Considerable

  • interpersonal skills;

  • oral and written communication skills;

  • administer activities of a unit;

  • analyze and resolve day to day problems of individuals with an intellectual disability;

  • Supervisory ability.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    Four (4) years of experience in the care and supervision of individuals with an intellectual disability.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

    One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity at the level of a Supervising Developmental Services Worker 1 or 2.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

    College training, preferably in an educational, nursing or social science field, may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of two (2) years of college education equalling one (1) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following experience:

  • Experience working with individuals with a developmental and/or intellectual disability.

  • Experience with procedures and terminology relating to modern methods of working with individuals with ID/DD.

  • Experience with rehabilitative and interdisciplinary processes.

  • Experience analyzing and resolving day to day problems of persons with ID/DD.

  • Experience conducting home visits in response to AID (formerly OPA), Immediate Protective Services, for individuals not known to the Department.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel; as well as familiarity with e-CAMRIS and CoreCT.

  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills interacting with, and communicating information to internal partners, external partners, and the public, both verbally and written.

  • Experience utilizing policies and procedures related to payroll, hiring, purchasing, Client accounting, data collection, and scheduling.

  • Experience in a supervisory capacity of staff across multiple locations, effectively developing plans to prioritize work and assignments.

  • Experience working with teams, clinicians, and case managers.

  • Experience with and knowledge of processes for identifying State of CT and federal benefit/entitlement programs.

  • Experience with and knowledge of ICF policies, procedures and active treatment.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class may be required to be bilingual or fluent in American Sign Language.

  • Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class will be required to possess physical and emotional health for efficient performance of duties; a physical examination may be required.
