Fabricator/Welder
Summary of Position
Under direct supervision, the Fabricator/Welder will weld, fabricate, and restore high-end automotive chassis and parts; in addition, they will have the potential opportunity to develop our junior Fabricators through on-the-job training. They will be directly supporting and impacting Singer’s mission, “Everything is Important.”
The candidate must be an effective communicator that works well on a team who can prepare and fabricate parts to engineering specifications. This position requires you to be meticulous in your work and constantly striving for improvement. You must be able follow precise work instructions while maintaining both accountability and accurate work documentation through a start to finish fabrication process. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, self-driven, detail oriented and has demonstrated success working with a team towards a common goal with proven results.
Essential Duties
Works with Lead Fabricator and Production Supervisor to ensure production demands meet the specified production schedule
Trains new/lower grade technicians on processes and procedures
Provides feedback to supervisor on performance and growth of each team member
Performs operational procedure according to required engineering specifications
Ensures workflow is tracked and on time through daily meetings
Prepares and stages upcoming production builds before they enter the department
Works daily tasks lists set out by Lead/Production Supervisor
Reports any issues/delays in production line to the Lead and ensures correction in a timely manner
Prepares and fabricates parts to engineering specifications
Assists senior Fabricators with parts and projects
Tracks and documents fabrication processes and results
Organizes material and parts
Provides feedback to Lead on design and process improvement
Interacts with Engineering Teams to execute work requests
Receives training in various forms of metal fabrication and develops and uses these skills to the highest standard
Performs all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
Inspects both raw materials and finished products for conformance to quality specifications
Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
Maintains and services shop equipment
Assists other Fabricators, Welders, and team members as necessary
Assists in special projects and set up of fixtures as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience
High school graduate or equivalent
Five (1) to seven (7) years of related work experience in an automotive (chassis/ parts), restoration, manufacturing and or assembly environment
Intermediate automotive knowledge and knowledge of fabrication, machining/ welding equipment setup, process, and maintenance
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
Certification and/or technical automotive program graduate
Prior experience in rapid growth environment
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
Working knowledge of fixturing
Advanced competency in GTAW (TIG) welding process
Advanced competency in GMAW (MIG) welding process
Skilled with making, restoring, and/or creating custom automotive parts
Intermediate knowledge of metal fabrication methods - cutting, shaping, forming, shearing, etc.
Intermediate knowledge of filler material and required gas applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
Familiarity of conventional and precision measuring instruments
Ability to properly fit / align parts and panels according to design specifications
Ability to interpret manuals, design specifications, technical blueprints, SAE, and metric drawings
Ability to detect errors and correct through proper procedures and channels
Proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to follow instructions and take direction
Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines
A strong sense of urgency

Perfectionist mindset, very high attention to detail, and a passion for cars

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Must be able to work in a shop environment
Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 lbs., infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work and stand on concrete for extended periods
Must be able to work in awkward positions and tight spaces
Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms and possess manual dexterity
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment
Must be able to start at an early schedule and work overtime when needed
Must be able to operate industrial machinery in support of providing completed company products

Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 1:30 pm with overtime as needed.
Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is between $16.00 - $36.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
