Global Business Banking Risk Technology provides the project, change, & development management and services of non-retail enterprise risk systems to support the Global Risk Management (GRM) business lines.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the Technical Project / Delivery Lead willact as the Scrum Master and Project Manager within an Agile environment. You will ensure the successful delivery of software products withinGlobal Business Banking Risk Technology. You will lead and support the team and ensure plans are put in place for releases & delivered per plan. You will identify, escalate and remove release and team impediments. As a Delivery Lead, you will also manage the schedule, risks, issues, and reporting and governance of projects.
Some of the key accountabilities include:
Possess strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate, and guide team members to achieving their delivery goals.
Have a strong business and technical background in the software development life cycle. Your background will help guide the team, solve technical challenges, and make informed decisions.
Guide and participate with the team to get to educated estimates leveraging your project delivery and solution design experience.
Manage complex projects with stakeholders that span multiple cross-functional teams.
Manage project schedule and budget (if needed).
Track and manage project risks, issues, action items and key decisions.
Mitigate risks and make sure the team is unblocked and can effectively complete their work.
Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
Guide projects through the Scotiabank development management processes.
Provide stakeholder and executive communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and relationship building.
Provide regular, standardized reporting for 1) team performance: velocity, stories completed, 2) project status.
Work with the team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate.
Communicate with other teams to track and manage dependencies between teams.
Identify team conflict and partner with Development Managers to resolve and escalate to Leadership Team for support when necessary.
Drive and coach for continuous improvement.
Build and maintain solid, professional working relationships with peers within the project team and business lines.
Coordinate releases, compliance and readiness procedures (Ex. Operational Readiness) with associated teams (Ex. Release Management, Security, etc.).
Collaborate with the team to analyze and breakdown projects into smaller components for estimation.
Support & Lead audit cycles (e.g. internal, KPMG) for applications, ensuring requirements are met and evidence is provided in timely manner
Estimating & Planning of BAU activities (e.g. annual DBRs, server vulnerabilities)
Work with vendor to ensure product issues are addressed in a timely manner and support is provided for any planned upgrades
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
7+ years of technology project management experience leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects primarily dealing with software development releases.
Excellent knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand the team needs.
strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SLDC), software currency initiatives, server migrations, database technologies (e.g. SQL Server), will ability to collaborate effectively in technical terms.
Excellent communication skills to deliver presentations at an executive and project team level.
Knowledge of Lean practices, eliminating waste, focusing on value delivery, small batch production, frequent delivery of working software, adapting to change.
Understanding of Agile practices such as backlog grooming, Scrum and Kanban based delivery, task definition, story splitting, etc.
Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working experience in JIRA/Confluence.
Adaptable and Flexible to support team needs – willingness to step into various roles within the Scrum team as needed, including but not limited to functioning as business analyst, quality assurance test Analyst and / or any r other project-related tasks to ensure successful delivery
Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches
Ability to contextualize the bigger picture across the business landscape to set a strategy and execute on that plan across projects and products.
Ability to drive the execution of deliverables across the team through strong time management, organization, and communication skills.
Strong organizational, communication, technical and analytical skills
Knowledge of project management tools and techniques (e.g., CA PPM, MS Projects, JIRA, Confluence)
University or College Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering/Business, or related discipline
