Job Summary

The Supervisor, Test Car is responsible for identifying track geometry exceptions across CN’s North American Rail Network. The incumbent operates and maintains the track technology systems, as well as explains the data produced by the systems.

Main Responsibilities

· Manage daily operation of the test vehicles to ensure frequency objectives are met

· Coordinate test schedules with Geometry Supervisors operating the hi-rail equipment

· Spearhead the performance of the system to optimize the information generated by the equipment

· Assist with scheduling Test Car to cover the Company’s network accordingly

· Report findings to field personnel on exceptions found during testing

· Submit reports and test data daily to internal stakeholders

· Perform other related tasks as assigned by Management

Working Conditions

The role works on a rotational schedule of 9 days on and 5 days off. The role requires frequent travel (100%) by air and road across North America with consecutive nights away from home. The role is performed outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences. The incumbent must be able to sit and operate computers for prolonged periods. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.

Requirements

Experience

Track Maintenance

· Minimum 5 years of experience in track maintenance, including knowledge of track components

o Minimum 2 years of experience in supervision and management*

o Minimum 5 years of experience working for Class One railroad in Engineering or track capacity*

*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

· High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)

· Valid Driver’s License

· Valid passport

· Required to pass all the pertinent rules training, including Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), United States Operating Rules (USOR), Qualification Standards for Operating Crews (QSOC), On Track Safety (OTS), dangerous goods, Test Car operations such as Image Map and Ensco systems

· Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG) or comparable

Technical Skills/Knowledge

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

· Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)*
