What You’ll Be Doing

The Senior Director, of Digital Payments and Wallets has overall accountability for product ownership e-transfers, Online payments (e.g. Bill Pay, Pre-Authorized Payments, EFT services, etc.), Cheques/Drafts, Wires and Digital Wallets (including tokenization and e-commerce). The leader will own the P&L, end-to-end client experience, products/service enhancements, revenue growth, and expense optimization. You will define the product strategy, roadmap, and plans to drive product revenue, enhance the experience, and meet payment network and regulatory changes while addressing the changing payment landscape and client needs.

How You’ll Succeed

Product Management - The leader is accountable for managing the P&L; end-to-end product controls; business and strategic planning as well as tracking to KPIs to measure success and outcomes. You will own the annual and multi-year strategic and financial planning for payment products and services (revenue, expenses, and KPIs) and establish Payments KPIs. Your responsibility will also include leading initiatives to enhance and drive payment product revenue and growth; meeting payment network requirements and mandates (as needed) and client experience enhancements; and managing Digital wallets including the user experience and improvements.

Strategy Development - Develop and own the strategic plans and roadmaps for Digital Payments and Wallets to drive revenue, reduce expenses, and support Canadian Banking and Deposits strategic objectives (e.g. grow deposits or enhance our Digital Bank). Conduct deep dive analysis on products and services performance to identify areas of opportunity.

Payments Landscape and Ecosystem – You have a good understanding of payment products, ecosystems, and payment networks (e.g. Visa, Interac, Mobile wallet space) and have payments industry contacts and relationships in the market. You will also be responsible for staying abreast of the payment industry and competitive developments inside and outside of Canada.

Impact and Influence - Ability to present, and communicate with Sr. Leadership within Deposits, Cards, Digital, Enterprise Payments, Client Segmentation, Technology, Finance, Delivery, Legal, and Enterprise Payments to influence and obtain buy-in for initiatives and strategic recommendations.

Champion Client Experience – Monitor the market and competitive environment (consumer, technology, competition, and government/regulatory agencies) and develop strategies and recommendations to protect and evolve our payment products, pricing, and experiences. You will work closely with Deposits, Enterprise Payments, and Digital and Credit Card teams to find ways to make the payment experience easier and more innovative for our clients.

Partner Management – You will build and foster strong working relationships with internal partners(e.g., Technology, Delivery Analytics, Modeling, Marketing, Digital Channels, etc.). You will also manage business relationships with key vendors: Visa, Interac, Apple, Google, and Samsung

People Management/ Leadership - Create and sustain a high-performing, inspired workplace that is consistent with the values of CIBC and ensure that progressive approaches are used in the management of human resources. This includes: championing a coaching model for managers; aligning employee reward and recognition around positive customer experience; ensuring consistent Performance Management practices throughout the business; career and succession planning; calibration sessions within the team and across division.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in Payments . 5-10 years’ work experience in payments, or product management. At least 10 years of work experience in business-related function, e.g., P&L management, strategy, strategic planning analytics, product management, finance, and management consulting

  • You have a Bachelors / Master’s degree in business related field with preferred experience in strategy, strategic planning or analytics (e.g., MBA, CFA, CA, CMA)
