What You’ll Be Doing

The Enterprise Innovation team plays a key role in CIBC’s mission to build the bank of the future by providing the enterprise with human understandings of emerging trends and technologies, driving hands on experimentation that deepen our insights into new opportunities and oncoming disruption, growing CIBC’s culture and community of innovation, and working with partners across the bank to deliver new ‘firsts’ for CIBC.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Enterprise Innovation, the Sr. Consultant will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of innovation strategies and engagements that drive transformation and impact across the bank.

H ow You’ll Succeed

  • Presentation and Storytelling: Simplify complex technologies and disruptive trends into relatable concepts, craft personalized and impactful stories that inform and enable action

  • Research: Perform research to understand, analyze, and evaluate potential opportunities powered by emerging trends and technologies.

  • Cross Functional Teamwork: Lead cross functional teams comprised of peers, other team members within Enterprise Tech and partner lines of businesses.

  • Engagement Planning and Execution: Translate potential opportunities into actionable plans, that drive alignment, provide transparency to stakeholders, and balance the risk of failure at every stage.

  • Industry/Eco-System Engagement: Engage with external industry as required (FinTech's, big tech, academia, Etc.) – to explore new partnered powered opportunities, while supporting CIBC’s external brand and industry posture.

  • You have the knowledge and discipline, to organize different engagements and efforts in the context of your target end user needs.

  • You are always able to answer these questions:

  • who are my target group of end users?

  • What is the impact I’m trying to create with them?

  • What planned actions am I pursuing in order to achieve those impacts?

  • You are an Enterprise Entrepreneur.

  • You have demonstrated experience navigating the bank to create impact in the absence of existing process, frameworks, and precedence for what you are doing.

  • You are energized by the opportunity to work within the constructs of the bank and stakeholder interests to deliver new firsts for CIBC.

  • You view failure and frustration as necessary, value added parts of the innovation process.

  • You embrace ambiguity and the unknown. But know when to ask for clarity/guidance.

  • You are proactive about finding answers to questions you don’t know.

  • You are passionate about Innovation (whatever it means to you)

  • You have a personal view of what innovation means to you.

  • You can demonstrate a passion in staying up to date on new innovations and industry activities. Innovation is more than just ‘something you have to do at work’.

  • You have relevant experience in corporate development, management consulting.
