Retail Deposits and Investments Technology within GWM is looking for a Solutions Architect to work on a strategic application suite. If you are excited to work on a business-critical application suite that demands high quality work in rolling out new applications, enhancements to the existing applications both with the speed, quality and assure production stability, this is the place for you. Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, Solution Architect is responsible for leading and supporting key activities for Retail Investment Platform. Responsibilities includes working with multiple technology teams and ensures that the applications architecture and infrastructure supporting major, complex applications are designed to meet evolving business requirements and meet standards for reliability, scalability, and availability. The incumbent will provide architecture and technology guidance on all projects to ensure consistency in approaches and to optimize technology synergy. The Solutions Architect also provides expertise and counsel ensuring technology teams and business areas understand all the options and technology choices in support of their business. The Solutions Architect has a technology and business understanding with effective communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others. Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Assist team in resolving overly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the needs of Retail Investment Platform group and Compliance, by applying their financial and technological knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions. Provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise to business and technology leaders.

  • Design architectural solutions, roadmaps that are aligned to business and technology strategy, enterprise standards and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain technology target state and roadmap for application portfolios in collaboration with Sr. Solution Architect, Chief Architect and Application Portfolio Owners. Provide technical support to Operations and Compliance group.

  • Collaborate with multiple teams Bank-wide on architecture design and follow Bank’s Architecture Review Board governance processes. Present solution design in a way that establishes trust relationships, persuades stakeholders, and achieves understanding and consensus at all levels.

  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to the end user groups. Maintain a sharp focus on system security and reliability while developing architecture designs for products and services.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 15+ years of IT experience with clear progression through various roles leading with at least 3 years of experience providing hands-on architectural design for software applications with proven record of accomplishment of building a product and taking it to market.

  • Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global based systems. Well versed in designing/developing cloud native solutions in GCP (Google Cloud Platform), Azure platforms.

  • Experience in modernizing legacy systems or similar transformational initiatives aligned with structured Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premises to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps with hands-on application development and security, data, and network integration.

  • Responsible for the Implementation of a trusted governance model where architecture assessments are automated based on enterprise standards and policies. Helping drives the implementation of trusted policies and standards with the help internal teams such as Security, Infrastructure, Data, etc.

  • Deployment of a technology solution that will implement the trusted governance framework, policies, and workflows. Challenge the way of thinking by implementing architectural design principles to improve the bank’s security, resiliency, and technology footprint.

  • Continuously research current and emerging technologies and propose changes wherever needed. Inform various stakeholders about any issues with the current technical solutions being implemented.

  • Well-versed with current IT practices, systems development techniques, including requirements specification and testing methodologies, real-time analytical and formal modelling tools, and keep current with rapidly changing technology to effectively apply technology to the solution of a business problem. This knowledge should be also applied to assist the Director or Sr. Manager in establishing future technological directions for the area.

  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment.

  • Prior experience in wealth and or retail investment products.

  • Customer first mindset while providing technology solutions to business problems.

  • Hands-On experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Spring Batch, Kafka, JDK 17+, SQL, SOAP Services and related technologies.

  • Collaboration tools - JIRA, Confluence
