Job Summary

The Signals and Communications(S&C),Construction Supervisoris responsible forleadingtheS&Cproductionandinstallation of all signal systems, inspections,and testing activities including placing locations in service. Additionally, the incumbent ensures thesupervision ofemployees ontheassigned territory.

Main Responsibilities

Management

  • Leadassigned personnelto ensure signal constructionwork is performed with CN’s and the Federal Railroad Administration’s(FRA) standards and in conjunctionwithapplicable collective bargaining agreements

  • Overseegroups of employees

  • Recommendappropriate correctiveactions to resolve performance issues

  • Respond and resolve grievances

Safety Compliance

  • Build safety compliance and improve safety results through efficiencytesting and safety walkabouts

  • Provide positive and constructive feedbackas well ascoaching

Capital Projects

  • Plan, implement, andhandlecapitalprojects to ensuretheexecutionfollowsCN and FRA standards

Derailments and Disruptions

  • Participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service

  • CollaboratewithTransportation andMechanical todeterminecause and future prevention

Working Conditions

The role isperformed in acombination of office and outdoorsenvironmentsinvarious typesof weather conditions. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends when necessary andbe available torespond to critical incidences. The role requires frequent travel (60%) for company business, at times without advance notice. The incumbent must be able tolift upto 50 lbs. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress.

Experience

Signals and Communications

  • Minimum5yearsof experience in signals and communications

  • Minimum 2 years ofexperience in signal construction and in a supervisory position*

Education/Certification/Designation

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

  • 2-year Technical Degree*

  • Bachelor’s DegreeinMechanical, Industrial,or Electrical Engineering*

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office(Excel,Word)
