The opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Product & Platforms. the Senior P roject Manager will play a crucial part in the successful implementation of our new HCM platform, while ensuring a seamless transition from existing applications and databases. This role will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the HCM software implementation project.

This is a major, transformative initiative at March of Dimes Canada, co-led by the IT & Digital Innovation and People & Culture departments but impacting all areas of the organization. It includes software implementation and operational changes to payroll, workforce and performance management, learning and development, and more.

Although the key deliverable of this project will be the implementation of our new Dayforce HCM platform, the project includes both software implementation and operational changes. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing large complex transformation projects where successful implementation requires various technical and non-technical considerations.

You will work closely with the project leadership, in-house and vendor implementation teams, and stakeholders across our programs and services, to ensure that the project is delivered to scope, budget, and timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage the internal project plan, incorporating the timelines and readiness requirements set forth in the vendor’s statement of work.

  • Monitor project progress, ensuring issues and delays are reported and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Develop and manage all project management documentations including charter, plan, status reports, issues logs, etc. ensuring they are up-to-date, and version controlled.

  • Ensure the project governance model, delivery approach, and change request processes are adhered to by project team members and stakeholders.

  • Manage resourcing for the project including capacity and resource planning, working closely with the project leadership team to identify new or changing needs and working with people managers for resource availability.

  • Facilitate communication between internal and external parties, acting as the central point of contact for day-to-day activities across all locations and/or business areas.

  • Working closely with the Strategy and People & Culture offices, define the rollout strategy and organizational readiness plan.

  • Coordinate the logistics of implementation including pre-implementation testing and training, go-live, and post-implementation warranty period.

  • Lead or support various project team meetings such as daily standups, weekly team updates, steering committee meetings, etc. Monitor and report progress, identify risks, and proactively raise and address issues as they arise throughout the project implementation process.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience leading major software implementation projects, involving multiple teams and work streams.

  • Experience working with SaaS implementations and integrations, ideally of an HCM system or related software.

  • Experience with developing and enabling adoption of project management practices within an organization or team.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of human resources and payroll processes in union and non-unionized environments.

  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work.

  • Ability to drill down to details or see the big picture as needed, to ensure the project and resources are supported.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting to executive-level audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Experience or understanding of the diverse experiences of people with disabilities, whether through professional work, volunteering, or personal lived experience.

  • Hands-on experience with project management, software development, and collaboration tools such as MS Projects, Jira, Miro, etc.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Post-secondary education or certification in Project Management or equivalent professional experience.
