Job Description

Senior Manager, Business Management

The Senior Manager, Business Management will be primarily responsible for providing a diverse range of analytical research, and strategic and operational support across the TDS & TBSM Technology team. The incumbent will possess a high level of integrity in managing matters that are both sensitive and highly confidential in nature and provides decision support and insight to senior leaders.

Responsibilities in a typical day may include liaising with internal and external stakeholders, conducting research and drafting briefings on a variety of topics, drafting and/or coordinating communications, organizing and preparing for key meetings and business events, supporting initiatives that span across TD Securities & TBSM Technology and the broader Infrastructure and Technology groups.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Provide in-depth research and analysis across a broad range of topics impacting, or of interest to capital markets, sharing insights with both the CIO and Technology Solutions Leadership Team (TSLT) and other business leaders in support of business strategy and objectives

  • Deliver on a variety of strategic projects, including transformational initiatives to enable functional growth, risk management and an integrated IT strategy implementation; ensure senior executives are kept abreast of relevant information and progress

  • Support review of current TDS IT systems and infrastructure to make recommendations regarding productivity levels, operating costs, and alignment to multi-year road IT roadmap

  • Support with developing long-term strategic planning, business case justifications, and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives to support business processes and approved projects

  • Assist with creating cost-effective solutions to deployment of information processing and communication technologies

  • Ensure CIO and TSLT are briefed and appropriately prepared in advance of key meetings, presentations and initiatives with internal or external partners/stakeholders

  • Oversee or support agendas, invites, pre-read material and minute taking, and follow-up on action items as needed

  • Review and summarize key discussions, business events or presentations in advance

  • Identify issues requiring attention and participate in solutions directly, or in consultation with relevant function/business leaders and other internal/external groups as necessary

  • Support preparation and delivery of executive level materials, financial analysis and help articulate the strategic vision of the business

  • Manage an inventory of key business activities, initiatives and accomplishments to be leveraged for business updates, communications, media publications, conferences, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required

  • 10+ years relevant experience

  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, proven financial acumen and awareness of regulatory environment and requirements

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous and changing circumstances, able to navigate complex situations independently and determine what issues require escalation, what to resolve and how to make suggestions for improvement

  • Thought leader and strategic thinker, with a future-focused mindset on how to drive the business forward

  • Effective influencer, partner and collaborator, willing to bridge across different teams and functions to deliver quality results

  • Strong judgement and decisiveness, with demonstrated ability to act with speed and agility

  • Demonstrated ability to absorb steady streams of information (both financial and non-financial), synthesize key insights or issues and communicate findings in a concise and compelling fashion

  • Strong executor, able to navigate the organization to effectively get things done

  • Willingness to learn and a natural curiosity for exploring a wide variety of topics

  • Integrity and high degree of ethics, given access to sensitive information regarding the Bank, the business, results, etc.
