What you'll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology team, the Senior Manager, Application Development is a professional responsible for managing multiple development projects, development groups and application support functions for a major line of business. The role applies professional knowledge to oversee the development, testing and implementation of organization-wide systems, directing, motivating and developing staff to maximize their individual contribution and function effectively as a team. The Senior Manager, Application Development leads a team to manage resource requirements and allocations, monitor and improve quality, and ensure 'best practice' development techniques. Additionally, the role works with the business in the development, testing and implementation of application programs that help promote business improvement.
You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
Understanding Requirements – Track and analyze operating environment for specified services and implement corrective actions as needed. Work with clients and internal partners to determine, negotiate, and manage services to the agreed standards. Monitor service levels to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend appropriate solutions.
People Leadership – Lead and coach a high performing group team of individuals. Direct, motivate, and develop your team, maximizing their contributions and professional growth. Share knowledge and collaborate to come up with effective solutions to problems.
Relationship Management – Work closely with clients and business partners to develop, test, and implement application program. Impact and improve the business by advising application owners on the technology possibilities and requirements.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience with: 2+ years’ leading a team of developers and are a seasoned professional with the ability to coach and help develop other team members. You are a code quality champion with hands-on experience in Software Design using SOLID Design principles. With at least 5 years of C#, Python, SQL, VBA (Excel) experience. You also have excellent Front Office business knowledge in one or more asset classes (Equities, FX, Commodities, Fixed Income & Rates).Solid understanding of financial instruments in derivatives, including pricing models, greeks and risk management concepts.
It’s an Asset if: You have experience using Bloomberg or similar platforms.
You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Business, and/or a related field.
