Intuit Principal Software Developer in Toronto, Ontario

Overview

Come join Intuit as a Principal Engineer on the Finish and File Platform team in the consumer group! You’ll be leading a mission critical global filing platform that serves several Intuits products and millions of users.

This role will lead teams of high-performing engineers driving the expansion of the platform to a global platform, decomposing and developing new capabilities. You will draw upon deep technical expertise, solid analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to steer the platform with a futuristic vision and innovation. You will quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect throughout the organization at all levels, and be viewed as a team player. What you'll bring

  • Strong educational background with BS / MS in Computer Science or related area.

  • 12+ years experience designing, developing, testing, maintaining and innovating large scale web applications and services with at least 3+ years of experience as an architect.

  • 5+ years of experience in leading design and architecture of complex distributed systems at scale .

  • Expert level proficiency in Design & Architecture, Web and Cloud Technologies

  • Masterful technical documentation and presentation skills to communicate architectural and design options, educating development teams and business.

  • Demonstrated track record of facilitative leadership, influence, and collaboration across boundaries.

  • Expert designing and developing REST APIs, User Experience capabilities that are performant, durable with ease of maintenance and onboarding experience.

  • Experience with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web applications and platforms

  • Experience designing and developing highly scalable and available applications in the Cloud with modern web frameworks. AWS or equivalent is preferred.

  • Ability to drive projects clearing ambiguity on the architecture, implementation and target state

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving and communication skills

  • Passion for being at the leading edge of technology and applying them across development, quality and operational excellence. Experience leveraging AI would be a plus

  • Strong business acumen to be able to bridge technical and business priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels - from front line engineers and non-technical stakeholders, to senior leaders in engineering or at the executive level.

  • Experience driving for results across cross-functional teams while maintaining effective working relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to work with global teams across time zones

How you will lead

  • Set the technical vision for the platform development partnering with product development and product management leadership

  • Drive broad technical initiatives across teams aligning to the the technical vision

  • Be the role model and lead the teams ensuring the highest standards on development including design, implementation, testing and operational excellence.

  • Partner with engineering leaders across Intuit to identify areas across people, process, and technology to increase velocity, tech maturity and reusability.

  • Design and develop highly reusable platform capabilities that deliver delightful user experience across products.

  • Deeply understand the current state of the platform and the architecture to design and develop the future state.

  • Deliver experiences and capabilities with Engineering and Operational Excellence, leading to outstanding outcomes for customers, partners, and stakeholders

  • Build high performing teams. Mentor and nurture engineers with a focus on craft skills including technology, process, people and product

  • Actively stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, share learnings, and make technology choices and strategic decisions

  • Embrace new ideas. Help bring out the best ideas from the team by empowering them and leading by example.

  • Create shared vision and build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships / alignment with partners across the business (Principal Engineers, Product Development, Product Management, SRE).
