Canadian Tire Principal Enterprise Architect in Toronto, Ontario
What you'll do
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Principal Enterprise Architect in the Enterprise Architecture team to lead the strategic direction for technology capabilities throughout the organization. This position will report to the AVP, Enterprise Architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the enterprise capability model, strategy, roadmaps, standards, and patterns for solutions across the organization. This role requires a strong leader with technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and mentor teams.
As a strong leader, you will collaborate with other Principal Architects and Technology Leads across IT to help build out the capability target state strategy. You will be expected to create a culture of trust, respect, and open communication between Business Architecture and IT teams. You will provide guidance and support to teams, encouraging innovation, and embracing change to achieve success. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for driving growth and success.
In this role, you will:
Define and implement architectural strategies and standards to support enterprise initiatives.
Support the enterprise capability model AI and Banking domains, coordinating with relevant teams.
Analyze existing systems for modernization opportunities, improvements, and risks.
Oversee enterprise standards and patterns while ensuring solutions are complying.
Responsible for supervising and controlling the integration of the enterprise capability model into data governance, including any associated models.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality solution design.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic roadmaps, LCM, and decommissioning plans.
Develop and maintain architecture artifacts, including reference architectures, design patterns, and solution blueprints.
Drive adoption of modern technology stacks aligned with business goals.
Evaluate and select tools and technologies for modernization initiatives.
Identify and manage technical risks and issues in collaboration with Principal Architects.
Support and mentor members in a high-performing architecture team, providing guidance and support to help new team members learn and grow.
Work closely with various Principal Architects and Technology Leads to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring that architecture strategies and standards are up to date.
What you bring
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years IT experience in progressive development and design related positions with 4+ years' experience working in an architect/system design role.
Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture concepts and models.
Strong understanding of architecture patterns, best practices, and principles.
Experience with modern stacks including security, cloud, data pipelines, microservices, containers, CI/CD
Experience interpreting and applying security best practices to create, harden and secure infrastructure and applications.
Demonstrated ability to think and communicate in both abstract and concrete concepts, and to do so appropriately for the audience.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic roadmaps and executing plans to deliver them.
Experience in evaluating and selecting tools and technologies to support initiatives.
Experience in managing technical risks and issues.
Ability to build and mentor a high-performing architecture team.
Ability to work collaboratively with various IT and Business leadership teams.
Ability to manage stakeholders and build and maintain strong relationships.
Experience in the Supply Chain / Retail industry is an asset.
