Position Overview
As a Mechanical Field Manager you will play a significant part in the success for Ganotec. You will function as a field supervisor overseeing a sub-contractor. You will be responsible for sub-contract management and the organization and coordination of work methods, safety, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship either directly or through subcontractor onsite management. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview
Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Location
This role will be based on Union Station project in Toronto, ON.
Responsibilities
Daily review and confirmation of sub-contractor crew activities
Assists in the coordination and planning of projects in a particular construction area.
Oversees all operations relating to a specific discipline/segment of work
Ensures the scope is clearly understood between all stakeholders
Directs discipline sub-contractors on site
Performs daily inspections of work performed
Provides job safety training and awareness for personnel
Establishes budgetary guidelines for the job, and ensures that cost control measures are being followed
Establishes quality standards of all jobs, and ensures that all quality assurance and company standards are being met
Oversee the BIM Model and ensure it is up-to-date and accurate
With assistance of the Project Engineer ensure that any sub-contracts are administered as intended.
Qualifications
8+ years' construction experience with 3+ years being in a Mechanical Superintendent/Manager/Leadership capacity
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Experience with BIM an asset
Experience working on rail projects highly desirable
Ability to oversee multiple disciplines such as piping and mechanical
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit/Ganotec’s policies, procedures and software programs.
Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.#LI-GH
