The Manager, SCI Regulatory Reporting leads and oversees Scotia Capital Inc.’s (“SCI”) regulatory capital reporting in Canada, as well as ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and driving a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Supervising the production, analysis and filing of regulatory, statutory and financial reports on behalf of Scotia Capital Inc. This includes supporting year-end audit, financial reporting and Board of Director meeting deliverables (Ex: submit Board meeting deliverables, prepare SCI Plan, etc.). In addition, reviewing oversight and control activities to mitigate operational risk such as reviewing SCI’s weekly profit and loss and monthly FX coverage.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations through monitoring and analysis of SCI’s activities and accounting entries. This includes reviewing the Residual Profit Spit (RPS) model on behalf of SCI and participate in any RPS-related working groups with various internal teams and regional finance teams.

  • Supporting, coaching, and training staff to be accountable for SCI regulatory reporting relating to New Issues, Unhedged FX Margin (Schedule 11) and Capital Concentration Charge (Schedule 14), as well as other regulatory reporting.

  • Monitoring, facilitating and supporting Scotia Real Estate Inc.’s (SREI) monthly and annual financial reporting. This also includes facilitating audit examination, assist with annual review of SREI’s credit facility, reviewing monthly reconciliations, and attending SREI Board of Directors meeting.

  • Supporting the CFO as required and participating in regulatory projects in support of SCI, and any other projects relating to SCI and its subsidiaries.

  • Keeping abreast with regulatory (Ex: CIRO, SOX) changes and any impacts on current processes.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in the financial services industry

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting

  • Strong knowledge of CIRO (formerly IIROC, Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada) regulatory reporting

  • Canadian Securities Course

  • Thorough understanding of equity, debt and related derivative instruments

  • Accounting knowledge related to control accounts, general ledger flows and transactional based data

  • Knowledgeable in Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (“CIRO”) rules and regulations relevant to SCI (a CIRO dealer member)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when dealing with senior finance management and external dealer members
