Manulife Manager, Global Operational Risk & Resilience Oversight in Toronto, Ontario
Operational Risk & Resilience Oversight (ORRO) is an independent risk function that offers guidance on risk and controls to various stakeholders, ensuring that operational risks are managed appropriately and align with the organization’s risk appetite. The Operational Risk Management department is responsible for providing independent oversight of policies, procedures and standards concerning the measurement, monitoring, control and reporting of risks.
Reporting to the Head of ORRO Governance , this role will support in implementing the oversight validation methodology and program implementation to provide assurance over the quality and effectiveness of ORRM program executed by various segments and businesses. The role will also support the Head of ORRO Governance in maintaining the function book of work, as well as assisting in identifying efficiencies and synergies on similar activities across segments.
Position Responsibilities:
(Oversight Validation) Program Planning and Strategy, and Project Management
Develop and maintain the Oversight Validation program roadmap that outlines key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
Ensure that activities align with the team’s strategic objectives and business goals.
Execute the required activities and ensure that they are on track in terms of scope, coverage across segments, and within the required timeline.
(Oversight Validation) Stakeholder Management
Develop ongoing communication plan and touchpoints with segments and businesses, providing regular updates on progress, themes and challenges.
Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to ensure outcomes are meaningful and providing solutions towards Easier, Better and Faster.
(Function Book of Work and Optimization) Team Coordination and Assessment
Support in maintaining the book of work for the Global ORRO function
Perform assessment and identify activities that can be streamlined, using centralized model, to reduce duplication across all ORRM programs that are executed by various segment risk teams,
Lead discussions, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the resources and information needed to succeed.
(Function Book of Work and Optimization) Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success.
Generate regular reports for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting progress, performance metrics, and any areas of concern.
(Function Book of Work and Optimization) Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for improving project management processes and methodologies.
Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of future projects.
Required Qualifications:
Strong leadership skills, outside of the box thinking skills, technical subject matter expertise in operational risk, and solid communication and influencing skills.
Collaboration with multiple businesses, functions, and geographies, to promote consistency in applying ORRM policies and standards.
Broad knowledge of financial services/insurance business and related products
Strong knowledge in Operational Risk Management and its risk taxonomies and methodologies
Minimum 5 years of experience in operational risk management or a highly related field such as audit, compliance, etc. plus strong knowledge of operational processes, risks and controls.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
Self-starter with the ability to work with little guidance
High proficiency in MS Office Products, Project Management tool like JIRA, and other analytics tools such as Power BI.

Salary range is expected to be between
$84,375.00 CAD - $151,875.00 CAD
