Job Description

Position Overview

As a Manager, First Nation, Community and Stakeholder Relations you will build and manage the relations with all stakeholders during the development, construction and operation of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects in Central and Western Canada. This position will be located out of Invenergy’s Toronto, Canada office. You will need to be available to travel on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership with the development and implementation of engagement strategies and plans for Invenergy’s portfolio of projects that align with long-term strategy and initiatives.

  • Buil d and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with Indigenous communities, municipalities, and stakeholders generally .

  • Represent Invenergy with customers, landowners, provinc ial and municipal elected officials , regulators, and other stakeholders during meetings and public events .

  • Lead community engagement activities during all phases of project development.

  • Take a leading role in obtaining certain local, provincial and/or federal permits and authorizations .

  • Lead procedural aspects of consultation with Indigenous communities as delegated by the Crown. This consultation may include negotiating agreements for capacity , traditional knowledge studies, accommodation and potential partnerships.

  • Assist in s ecur ing site control for development prospects, including negotiating leases, easements and other agreements with landowners.

  • Coordinate landowner communication efforts.

  • Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external support.

    Require d Skills

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8+ years of experience in the undertaking Indigenous, community and stakeholder engagement for large infrastructure or energy projects or related experience

  • Ability to travel to communities where projects are situated in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia (25% of time)

  • Valid driver's license required

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience with renewable project s is considered an asset.

  • Experience undertaking provincial and/or municipal engagement requirements required for large energy projects .

  • Proven track record in building trusted relationships with Indigenous communities .

  • Track record and experience in undertaking complex negotiations

  • A bility to think strategically and to implement strategic engagement plans

  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership and time management skills

  • Exceptional collaboration, and facilitation skills

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong public speaking and personal skills
