Canadian Tire Financial Analyst, Corporate Accounting in Toronto, Ontario

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting Retail, this position provides a unique insight into the results for key retail business units. The Financial Analyst, Retail is an essential part of the accounting group and will require experience presenting key messages and variance analysis to senior leaders. Your technical expertise and analytical skills are critical for success, as is your ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders with multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Analyze and present the results of key retail businesses to internal stakeholders including the analysis of significant variances year over year or compared to budget/forecast

  • Exercise critical financial analysis to ensure the highest level of accuracy in the Company’s financial reporting

  • Prepare supplementary information required by the external reporting team for the quarterly external reports

  • Prepare supporting documents for the external auditors to fulfill the requirement for quarterly reviews, interim testing and year-end audits.

  • Responsible for the timely completion and accuracy of all deliverables including preparing annual IFRS compliant banner level financial statements

  • Work with other accounting teams to continuously improve processes and look for efficiencies

  • Ad hoc projects as required.

What you bring

  • Working towards completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA)

  • University degree or College diploma in Accounting or Business Administration

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

  • Solid accounting fundamental skills

  • Ability to clearly and confidently, communicate results to large audience

  • Ability to influence and persuade different points of view

  • Strong time management and self-management skills

  • Ability to work independently and in an ambiguous environment

  • Self-starter attitude with willingness to learn and master new technologies

  • Advanced MS Excel, MS Access, and PowerPoint skills

  • Experience using Hyperion Planning & HFM and Peoplesoft

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment.
