Cisco Employee and Executive Communications Manager Cisco Canada in Toronto, Ontario

What You'll Do

You will build and lead an integrated internal communications program that supports the business in Canada and aligns to overall communications objectives. You will drive employee engagements initiatives, helping to unify the employee experience for Canadian employees. You will collaborate with all communications functions and business partners, including the Canada management team and in particular the Country General Manager.

You will also develop and execute an integrated executive communications platform for the Cisco Canada General Manager, including supporting their executive presence internally and externally.

As part of the Canada communications team, the success of this role requires the ability to balance a number of priorities in order to ensure the relevance of communications within the business. It requires the ability to prioritize and focus on the areas where communications can have the biggest impact and demonstrate results to help influence the perceptions, attitudes and behaviors of target audiences.

Your responsibilities will include among others:

  • Develop and deliver on an integrated, comprehensive internal and executive communications strategy and plan that uses the available communications channels for Cisco Canada and is aligned to regional business goals, outcomes, and priorities, and balanced with global priorities and objectives.

  • Drive all aspects of business, organizational, executive and employee communications for Cisco Canada.

  • Execution of key employee-focused initiatives events like Town Halls, employee newsletters, Internal Awards/Recognition Program, etc.

  • Build and implement an executive platform strategy in collaboration with Cisco Canada General Manager that contributes positively to executive and company reputation.

  • Leverage social media as a channel to engage with employees as well as develop and drive social media activities for the General Manager.

  • Work closely with Canadian business leaders, America Sales, Global Communications, leaders from People & Communities, Government Affairs, etc.

  • Adapt or craft clear, persuasive and compelling communications content tailored for various internal audiences and across a variety of multi-media formats including messaging, emails, narratives, presentations, blogs, etc.

  • Own key Canadian internal communication channels and leverage other channels as needed.

  • Be responsible for ad hoc metrics and formal quarterly reporting, quality of communications outcomes, and delivery on time.

Who You Are

You have a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative communications strategies. You understand the important role that employee experience plays in developing a strong workplace culture, and how corporate reputation can grow a business. Ideally, you’ll have experience building and implementing integrated communications campaigns - with a focus on internal communications and executive positioning. You’re a lifelong learner and stay on top of external trends, including a general understanding of current affairs, major geopolitical events, and trending discussions regarding public sector industries. You’re engaged, proactive, accountable and collaborative. You are curious, take initiative, are passionate about the communications profession and about the impact strategic communications can have on key audiences. You have strong interpersonal skills; an intuitive ability to read people and build strong, productive working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of communications experience.

  • A proven track record of partnering successfully with executive level team members and building executive leadership platforms, including on social media.

  • A demonstrated ability to translate business goals into communication goals and understanding audience perceptions.

  • An effective, clear and persuasive communicator, with the ability to tailor messaging across multiple audiences.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (proficiency in French is an asset).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Think strategically and creatively around translating business priorities into stories and visual concepts that are relevant and engaging to key audience across various channels.

  • Translating complexity into simplified language and imagery. Graphic design and/or basic video editing experience is a strength

  • Understand technology trends and the industry, as well as Cisco, its technologies, services & solutions.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance concurrent projects.

  • Resilient problem solver who can gain consensus and handle sensitive situations.
