As the Distinguished Engineer for TurboTax Canada, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, driving the architectural vision and technical strategy for our leading tax preparation solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact users while tackling some of the most complex challenges in fintech.

As a Distinguished Engineer and Architect of TurboTax Canada and other TurboTax capabilities developed in Toronto, your responsibilities will include driving the right architecture that meets our growing business needs through modern technology. You will be responsible for the architecture of the income tax capabilities and experiences developed in Toronto, focusing on both functional and non-functional requirements such as security, performance and operational excellence. You will lead through the latest technologies in Generative AI, mentor engineers and play an active role in growing our tech talent. You will also work with various engineering teams at Intuit to influence their roadmap and technology so that you can leverage the capabilities that they build.

What you'll bring

  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience. Significant design/architecture experience.

  • 10+ years’ experience designing and leading software architecture.

  • Experience coding in two or more languages and working in agile environments.

  • Experience with cloud/SaaS, building highly scalable systems and knowledge of AI/ML (GenAI).

  • Boundaryless leadership experience: Applying the nuances of influencing based on the situation, knowing when to push and when to ease, driving through designs, ideas, and roadmaps.

  • Seasoned and Ambidextrous leadership - able to balance short and long, inspire and coach.

  • Experience leading through impact and influence.

  • Excellent communication skills: Demonstrated ability to present to all levels of leadership, including executives.

  • Experience in conceptualizing, launching, and driving business and product strategies and multi-year roadmaps.

  • Expertise with modern technology stacks, API design, microservices, public cloud and programming languages.

  • Familiarity with Income Tax and Fintech domains.

How you will lead

  • Provide architectural vision, strategy and architecture & technology leadership across a number of business initiatives.

  • Guide and influence product development through architecture and technology.

  • Drive system and platform thinking within development teams.

  • Be the technical expert, researching, evaluating, and implementing state-of-the-art technology (open source, third party, etc.)

  • Influence product management and business users and senior leadership by demonstrating the business value of architecture.

  • Leverage industry best practices and state of the art technologies such as generative AI to accelerate business outcomes.

  • Work with product management and contribute to business strategy and business requirements. Grow and mentor strong technical talent in the organization and be a mentor to engineers to create highly performant, scalable, secure and high quality systems.
