POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you passionate about storytelling, innovation, and making an impact in the digital world? Join The Globe and Mail as a full-time Digital Marketing Specialist and play a vital role in shaping how audiences engage with our brand and content. As part of the consumer marketing and audience team, you'll be at the forefront of developing and executing digital marketing strategies across a variety of platforms to drive engagement with Globe content, tools, apps and podcasts. Your work will not only drive traffic to our platforms but also reinforce our commitment to quality journalism. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a subject matter expert in digital marketing, you’ll work closely with Globe and Mail editorial teams, acquisition sales, and The Globe’s events teams to achieve audience growth and engagement objectives. The bulk of your time will be spent managing advertising campaigns on a range of digital marketing platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and/or Reddit, TikTok, or YouTube, to drive reach and engagement with Globe content. Excellent knowledge of performance marketing is required along with a strong understanding of content marketing and analytics.

  • Drive traffic to The Globe's website through management of an external marketing agency and related budgets and results, ensuring corporate brand standards and privacy requirements are upheld, and delivering weekly, monthly and quarterly reports

  • Collaborate and ideate with editorial, audience, The Globe Content Studio, The Globe Events team, sales and marketing to support Globe brand campaigns, core product launches, and editorial features and initiatives

  • Act as the in-house marketing expert on a variety of digital platforms (search, social, app stores and new platforms as they emerge), building relationships with advertising partners, staying abreast of new developments and best practices, and working with The Globe's legal and data management teams when engaging new partners or platforms

  • Conduct ongoing social listening to identify content marketing opportunities and/or potential risks to The Globe's brand, alerting the relevant teams and/or collaborating on response plans

  • Drive operational efficiency by managing administrative tasks such as results reporting, invoice and expense processing, etc as needed

  • Ensure adherence to The Globe’s privacy and CASL policies and uphold The Globe's brand standards and style

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree with preference for candidates with a Marketing and/or Journalism degree;

  • 3-5 years or more managing results-driven digital media campaigns and a plus if experience in managing integrated marketing

  • Strong understanding of audience targeting and value proposition to position products and content for success

  • Demonstrated experience in attracting and engaging target audiences through paid and owned media on a range of digital platforms such as LinkedIn, Reddit, Meta, Google, and Apple App Store

  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva and/or other digital content creation toolsProven proficiency in developing content marketing calendars and implementing efficient document management systems to streamline collaborative workflows
