Data Centre Technicial Supervisor

Who we're looking for:

We’re looking for a Data Centre Technical Supervisor.

Rogers Media central campus is located at 1 Mount Pleasant Road in Toronto. This main campus contains production facilities for Sportsnet as well as the master control facilities for; Sportsnet, Citytv Network, OMNI TV Network and our other Rogers Specialty channels. The Data Centre Technical Supervisor will be working with all these departments and have responsibility over, electrical, mechanical and building monitoring systems as well as broadcast installers related to any equipment or cabling going into our equipment rooms. This person will make sure all projects fall with in the allowable power and cooling capacities in the Media technical areas and all installation standards are met.

What you'll do:

  • Monitoring of cooling and electrical loads in equipment rooms.

  • Submissions to Corporate Real Estate and Engineering consultants for approval of electrical and mechanical changes in data centres.

  • Managing maintenance of power distribution in data centres.

  • Coordination of, access, approvals and maintenance windows for contractors working in data centres.

  • Review of MOPs and proposed work by contractors.

  • Supervision of safety related to contractor work and cleanliness in technical areas.

  • Coordinate the assignment of rack space and related power and electrical requirements for it.

  • Ensuring that all broadcast installation standards and style guides are enforced.

  • Be the single point of contact and coordination of 3rd party contractors on site.

  • Coordinate removal and recycling of old equipment and wiring.

  • Work with management to prioritize installation resources and projects.

What you bring:

  • Experience in dealing with power and cooling in data centres and/or high-risk live production equipment rooms.

  • Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems for data centres.

  • Knowledge of HVAC and environmental systems for data centres.

  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems.

  • Understanding cold and hot isle containment system enclosers for data centres.

  • Excellent communication skills with stake holders to help them understand data centre work and the risks involved in it.

  • Excellent understanding of risk management related to power and cooling in critical environments.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic and computer network cabling and distribution an asset.

  • Basic knowledge of the difference and purpose of computer switches, servers and storage.

  • Systems cabling installation experience and asset.
