Job Description:
Associate Vice President, Protect Platform, Model Development and Governance sits in Enterprise Protect Data & Analytics function and performs review and assurance of models and risk strategy by maintaining a clear product roadmap/strategy covering the full product development lifecycle. This role should follow latest trends in the financial crime's compliance risk field, red flags and typologies and assist in identifying and resolving coverage gaps (if any) for TD.
Depth & Scope:
Oversees Model Product health, Maturity & Control assessment, and overall framework and standardization.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing governance of model standards
Maintain up-to-date awareness of regulatory, competitive and industry landscape to pivot product strategy, as needed (model scope includes all first line models: suite of in-house developed plus vendor solutions)
Responsible for the overall Model health and Monitors Metrics/KPI and Regulatory/Risk Reporting
Collaborates with other area of the bank on modeling standards and governance, influencing across all areas of Financial Crime risk regarding the current state, strategic vision and approach to design the future state capabilities. Includes: Risk assessment, Customer Risk Rating, Know your customer, AML and sanction screening, compliance monitoring routines investigations and even quality assurance and testing.
Ensures all models are well documented and that assumptions and other key decisions are transparent to model users
Directs initiatives in next generation models with key model development projects completed on time and in line with expectations
Contribute to data requirements for effective modelling and communicate to data owners across Enterprise Protect
Contributes to the overall success of the EP target operating model, programs and remediations through delivery of modeling standards, documentation and other outputs that are in line with regulatory expectations and incorporate an appropriate level of governance and expert judgment
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including business, technology, development teams, shared services, control functions, relevant business executives, and external vendors, as appropriate (e.g., MRM + 1B function)
Plays a key role in aligning internal and external stakeholders on the Enterprise Protect data strategy and delivery roadmap, communicating with and actively engaging broader stakeholders in achieving the strategy.
Advocate for continuing and enhancing Talent Mgmt. initiatives as well as Learning strategy oversight across protect platform
Owner of integrated NA routines for Enterprise Protect Data Management, Annual planning, and Expense & Forecasting
Monitors Metrics/KPI and Regulatory/Risk Reporting
Manages, monitors, and controls overall Model CoE integration of component initiatives, makes necessary adjustments based on business priorities and issues
Undertakes and completes a variety of projects and initiatives - often of a highly sensitive nature, and usually with minimal guidance or direction

Education & Experience:
15+ years of relevant Financial Crime experience, risk modeling, validation/or management experience in a Risk function
Solid experience working with model risk management (MRM)
Knowledge of red flags and typologies in Financial Crime (e.g., AML, Fraud, insider, etc.)
Deep understanding of Financial Crime products and understanding of implementing these applications within TD or other peers.
Ability to solve problems logically and /or creative, demonstrating professional judgement, quality control and adherence to high standards.
Knowledge and appreciation of the key concepts associated with risk management including inherent risks, controls, and residual risk.
Extensive knowledge of Financial Crime (e.g., AML, Fraud, insider, etc.) regulations, risks, and appropriate controls
Proven research and analytical skills, business acumen, strategic and creative thinking, project leadership skills and multi-tasking capabilities
Experience in developing documentation that meets the highest regulatory standards and audit requirements.
Experience creating documentation that meets regulatory and audit standards.
Strong active listening, written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to build networks and partnerships at all levels within the organization.
