Hours & Shift Information: Tuesday to Friday, 10 hour shifts, 6:00am to 4:00pm

Reporting to the Commander of Fleet Operations and under the direction of the Automotive Mechanic 3, and within the regulations as set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the Automotive Mechanic 3 Apprentice will:
Perform mandatory inspections of City of Toronto vehicles.
Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools and equipment supplied by the City of Toronto.
Performs calibrations on ambulances.
Reports deficiencies and makes recommendations.
Works under the direction of a Licensed Technician and/or Supervisor.
Operates vehicles to move in and out of garage and do road tests.
Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
Responsible to keep shop area and tools clean.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as follows:
Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent diploma
Register with the Skilled Trades of Ontario within 60 days of employment
Possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements
You Must Also Have:
The ability to successfully complete a written test and interview.
Be registered for in-school learning through the Ontario College of Trades
Provide copy of 310S Automotive Service Technician Logbook once registered as an apprentice with Ontario Skilled Trades.
Must be able to travel to different work locations as assigned.
Must be physically capable of performing essential duties of the Automotive Service Technician (310S)
Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
Must be able to work shift/weekend/overtime/on call duty.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work in a computerised environment.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
