One of TEKsystems largest banking clients is looking to hire an Accessibility Specialist to join their Design Systems team within Experience Design.

The Design System team conducts internal audits, user research, and competitor analysis to build scalable design and development components used by designers across the bank. The design system is used by 40+ teams across the bank, including all public and employee-facing applications. You’ll be responsible for testing, documenting and governing our design system components to ensure they are accessible. You’ll also collaborate with developers, designers and content strategists as we grow and mature our design system and documentation.

The successful candidate will:

• Be responsible for conducting accessibility testing on design system components using web accessibility tools and assistive technologies

• Be responsible for writing accessibility documentation for these components

• Be responsible for ad hoc consulting and knowledge sharing with designers, developers, QAs and other stakeholders across Digital

• Be responsible for ad hoc accessibility testing of end-to-end digital journeys

• Provide actionable recommendations for improving accessibility based on audit findings.

• Collaborate with product teams to integrate accessibility into the design and development process.

• Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on accessibility best practices for staff.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1), technologies, and tools.

• Advocate for and promote accessibility and inclusive design within the organization.

• Participate in user testing and research with people with disabilities to gather feedback and insights.

• Serve as an Accessibility SME across Experience Design

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred skills, qualifications and experience

• Lived experience using digital assistive technology (e.g. screen readers, screen magnification software, speech input software, closed captions, head pointers, single-switch entry devices, and motion or eye tracking devices)

• Accessibility certifications (e.g. CPACC - Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies)

• Experience with digital accessibility testing tools

• Background in web development, user experience design, content design or QA testing

• Familiarity with Canadian and US legal requirements for web accessibility

• Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular).

• Familiarity with automated accessibility testing tools.

• Knowledge of user-centered design principles and methodologies.

• Subject-matter expertise of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standard, including WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1, and WCAG 2.2.
