If this sounds like you, let’s talk! We are seeking a dynamic and creative Visual & Digital Arts Teacher to join our team at a Lava Heights Academy and Falcon Ridge Ranch, Rite of Passage Schools. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach both traditional visual arts and cutting-edge technology-based arts, blending creativity with innovation in a therapeutic learning environment. This position involves working with students in a residential setting, where art is used not only as an educational tool but also as a medium for personal expression and emotional growth. Students will explore both visual arts and technologies such as robotics, 3D printing, and virtual reality (VR) to combine creativity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach visual arts, including drawing, painting, and other mediums, to students of various skill levels.
Instruct students on digital arts platforms, such as graphic design, animation, and multimedia production.
Introduce and integrate emerging technologies such as robotics, 3D printers, and VR into the art curriculum.
Create a supportive, therapeutic classroom environment that encourages self-expression, emotional growth, and hands-on learning.
Support students in developing projects that combine art and technology while fostering emotional and social development.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, such as 3D printers, robotics kits, and VR headsets.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) principles into the curriculum.
Assess student performance, both academically and emotionally, providing constructive feedback to promote growth.
Participate in curriculum development and extracurricular programs that support the therapeutic goals of the school.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art, Education, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Proven experience in visual arts instruction, technology-based arts, or a combination of both.
Familiarity with 3D printing, robotics, and virtual reality tools and their use in educational settings.
Experience working in a therapeutic or residential school setting is a plus.
Strong classroom management, with an emphasis on creating a safe, emotionally supportive environment.
Ability to adapt lessons to meet the academic and emotional needs of diverse learners.
Previous teaching experience is preferred.
Compensation:Hourly Wage: $23/hour depending on experience.
