Location: United States, Ohio, Toledo Make your mark. The individual will serve all offices and industry groups as a member of the Central Office of our Professional Standards Team. Your role. Your work will include, but not be limited to: * Participate in the process of establishing audit policies for the firm's SEC practice, including: o Monitor and analyze emerging regulatory and professional requirements o Proactively share best practice insights and information with the SEC/PCAOB practice, including the development of technical guidance and tools o Lead implementation of new PCAOB audit standards o Collaborate with firm-wide audit methodology team to ensure PCAOB audit standards are considered in the development of templates, tools, and guidance o Participate in consultations with engagement teams on pre-defined and other audit matters o Participate as a technical colleague on SEC issuer audit engagements o Assist with the management of the firm's internal inspection program for SEC issuers o Manage SEC/PCAOB technical training plan and lead the development of technical training programs o Develop and maintain an external network appropriate to the role to assist with developing the firm's reputation within the profession and marketplace o Represent Plante Moran in interactions with regulatory and external professional bodies * Participate in process of establishing firm-wide accounting and auditing policies for complex financing, derivatives, hedging transactions, and other accounting matters, as needed, including: o Development of the technical and professional skills of technical team members and fellows o Creation of Accounting Technical Alerts and Updates for internal distribution o Creation of guidance and tools for assurance staff o Development of accounting and assurance training content o Develop and maintain assurance programs and checklists o Lead and support special projects as required, including research, analysis and communication o Interaction with the firm's Professional Standards Team Central Office and Industry Technical Leaders to determine impacts of relevant new accounting and auditing standards in relevant industries o Leading the implementation of relevant new accounting standards o Monitor, review and interpret impact on the Firm of relevant new accounting/reporting standards, interpretations, or proposals promulgated by various professional and regulatory agencies including the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) o Provide support to firm-wide assurance, independence and quality management initiatives * Conduct consultations with audit engagement teams to support their audit procedures on client's analysis of matters including, but not limited to, complex financing, derivatives, hedging transactions o Determine appropriate accounting framework and audit objectives to understand the scope of the consultation o Provide thorough and effective review of submitted consultation, with a focus on audit quality, while providing constructive and practical feedback to the engagement team and client The qualifications. Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required 8+ years of recent public accounting or other relevant experience is required CPA certif
