メインフレーム担当スペシャリストソリューションアーキテクト(Specialist SA, Mainframe)はAmazon Web Services(AWS)のソリューションアーキテクト(SA)チームの一員として活動します。チームにおいてメインフレームやそのワークロードに深い知見をもつ専門家として、様々なお客様がメインフレームのワークロードをAWSのクラウドに移行し、クラウドのメリットを最大限活用する上で直面する、ビジネス面や技術面の課題解決をリードすることでお客様に貢献していきます。

メインフレームで稼働するワークロードの多くは長い歴史を持ち、その全容が明らかではない事も少なくありません。このポジションのミッションは、そういった状況を改善したいと考えるお客様を直接的・間接的に支援することで、お客様のクラウド活用を加速することです。ワークロードによっては最小限の変化量で移行することが望ましいことも、業務フローの再定義を伴うクラウドに最適化されたアプリケーションへの書き換えが望ましいこともあります。

AWSのクラウド技術はお客様のフィードバックやご要望に基づき日々進化を続けています。AWSがお客様に提供するサービスは多岐にわたります。そのため、入社後も最新技術やトレンドを学び続けることが必要不可欠です。そのため、このポジションに応募する時点ではAWSやクラウド技術を身につけていることは必須ではありません。継続的なスキルアップの一環として、入社後にクラウドに関する知識を身につけようとする意欲を重視します。

As a Specialist Solution Architect (Specialist SA, Mainframe), you will be part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Architect (SA) team. As an expert with deep insights into mainframes and running workloads, you will lead the resolution of business and technical challenges faced by customers as they migrate their mainframe workloads to the AWS cloud and maximize the benefits of the cloud.

Many mainframe workloads have a long history, and sometimes it’s details is not clearly described. The mission of this position is to directly or indirectly support customers who want to improve such situations, thereby accelerating their cloud adoption. For some workloads, migration with minimal changes may be desirable, while for others, rewriting applications to be cloud-optimized with redefined business flows may be preferable.

AWS cloud technologies continue to evolve day by day based on customer feedback and requests. AWS offers a wide range of services to customers. Therefore, it is essential to continue learning the latest technologies and trends even after joining the company. At the time of applying for this position, it is not mandatory to have acquired AWS or cloud technology skills. As part of continuous skill development, we value the willingness to acquire cloud knowledge after joining the company.

Through your activities as an SA, we expect you to deepen your understanding of existing mainframe workloads and customers, while being exposed to and developing an interest in various AWS cloud technologies and deepening your learning. Your technical expertise and experience cultivated thus far will undoubtedly be fully utilized. Engaging with diverse customers and contributing across various domains related to mainframe workloads, their migration, and cloud optimization will provide a unique experience in this position.

Key job responsibilities

主に日本企業のお客様を対象に、メインフレームで稼働するワークロードのクラウド移行に関する価値訴求・課題解決をにないます。お客様に向けた活動は、そのお客様を担当する営業担当者・他チームのSAなどからなるお客様担当チームと連携しておこないます。

リファレンスアーキテクチャ、ベストプラクティス、その他のコンテンツを作成し、情報共有を行います。社外に向けたセミナーで共有することもあれば、社内向けの勉強会を主催したり、内部向けに資料共有という形を取ることもあります。

AWSの新サービスや新機能についての情報を収集・整理し、お客様に提案可能な体制を整えます。加えて、業界や世の中のトレンドをキャッチし、AWSとして取るべきアクションがあれば声を上げ、時にはその実行をリードします。

お客様の声をAWSの製品開発チームなどにフィードバックし、お客様にとって最良のサービスを提供するAWSの取り組みに貢献します。また、グローバルチームと連携しつつ全社的な取り組みに参画することもあります。

ご自身の自信のある領域を軸とした日々の業務を通じて経験を積み、徐々に他の領域についてもカバー範囲を広げられるよう取り組みを続けます。

You primarily work with Japanese enterprise customers, advocating the value and addressing challenges related to migrating their mainframe workloads to the cloud.

You collaborate with the account teams consisting of account managers, solution architects, and others who are responsible for those customers.

You create reference architectures, best practices, and other content to share information. This may involve delivering external seminars, hosting internal study sessions, or sharing materials internally.

You gather and organize information about new AWS services and features, ensuring readiness to propose solutions to customers. Additionally, you stay abreast of industry and global trends, raising your voice and sometimes leading initiatives for AWS to take appropriate actions.

You provide customer feedback to AWS product development teams, contributing to AWS's efforts to deliver the best services for customers. You may also collaborate with global teams and participate in company-wide initiatives.

Starting with your areas of expertise, you gradually expand your coverage through daily work experiences and continuous learning across other domains.

Basic Qualifications

• メインフレームで稼働するシステムを対象として、プリセールス、コンサルテーション、導入、運用などの業務に対する7年以上の経験(7+ years of experience in pre-sales, consulting, implementation, and operations for systems running on mainframes)

• お客様と的確にコミュニケーションができる能力、また高度な技術を平易な言葉で説明できる能力(Ability to communicate effectively with customers and explain advanced technologies in plain language)

• 社内外の組織を自ら横断して働くことができる能力(Ability to work across internal and external organizations independently.)

• 日々進化するクラウド技術や、自身にとって新しい技術領域について継続的に学ぶ好奇心と学習の習慣(Curiosity and habit of continuous learning about evolving cloud technologies and new technology domains)

• 読み書きに支障がないレベルの英語力。流ちょうなものでなくとも、英語での会話に抵抗感なくチャレンジできること(English proficiency for reading and writing, and willingness to engage in conversations without hesitation, even if not fluent)

• LinuxまたはWindowsや、ネットワーク・ストレージ・データベースといった一般的なITに関する基礎的な知識(Basic knowledge of general IT such as Linux, Windows, networking, storage, Database)

Preferred Qualifications

• メインフレームで稼働するシステムのオープン化プロジェクトの経験(Experience in open system migration projects for mainframe-based systems)

• メインフレームで稼働するアプリケーションのアーキテクチャに対する知識や、設計・運用の経験(Knowledge of the architecture of applications running on mainframes, and experience in design and operation)

• メインフレームで利用される主要なデータベース製品に関する深い知識(Deep knowledge of major database products used on mainframes)

• 長い運用期間を経てブラックボックス化してしまったメインフレームのワークロードを解析し、業務内容を整理した経験(Exerience in analyzing mainframe workloads that have become black boxes over a long period of operation, and organizing business content)
