JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:

  • Senior Supply Chain Planner (Demand Planner)

DEPARTMENT:

  • Supply Chain Planning, Global Operation & Supply Chain

(NOT Japan local but global department)

REPORT TO:

  • Japan Supply Chain Planning Senior Manager

ONE-OVER MANAGER:

  • Asia Pacific Supply Chain Planning Director

POSITION DISCRIPTION:

  • This position has responsibility to lead the regional forecasting (IBP) cycle and oversee the forecasting process from strategy to execution for assigned portfolio. As a member of a highly collaborative global, cross-functional team, will work to develop and implement focused supply chain strategies which support business growth and profitability objectives, including customer satisfaction and product cost management. Advance and implement strategies throughout each stage of the product lifecycle, including new product launch planning and execution, inventory and obsolescence management, product rationalization, and performance monitoring through close collaboration with distribution requirement planner (supply planner). Organize and facilitate monthly Tactical Demand Review as well as Regional Demand Review and assess any variations within demand and supply and proactively manage alignment and communication flows.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate business partnering with commercial leadership team.

  • Demonstrate good understanding and application of supply chain principles, concepts, practices, and standards.

  • Meet and collaborate with key business associates, that is marketing product managers, regulatory associates, sales leaders, financial and other supply chain functions to fulfill any business requirements.

  • Utilize demand history to statistically forecast demand for all products and families assigned.

  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, summarize data, validate and evaluate forecast results.

  • Participate in cross-functional reviews to reconcile variances in demand forecasts and refine to reflect updated Sales & Marketing initiatives & inputs.

  • Keep cross-functional partners, management and manufacturing sites aware of trends, potential changes and upside/downside risks.

  • Manage IBP-related demand planning & regional review sub-process for applicable portfolio, focusing on operational plan change drivers and financial plan gap-closing opportunities.

  • Support business execution of new programs and initiatives for new product launches and phase-outs.

  • Support master data maintenance and planning processes.

  • Use, understand and maintain cross-functional linkages within the organization’s demand planning software. (SAP, Blue Yonder or other ERP/ESP system)

  • Provide input to the Distribution Requirement Planning (Supply Planning) organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.

  • Participate in collaborative projects with cross-functional partners.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (Forecast Accuracy%, Forecast Bias, etc.)to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives.

  • Work within and actively promote Medtronic’s Mission, corporate strategies, policies, procedures and code of conduct.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Strong passion for challenging new things, personal development, and improvement.

  • 2+ years of experience with demand planning or supply chain planning.

  • Can-do attitude & problem-solving ability.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Intermediate in Japanese.

  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and Power Point).

  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems, BY or other ESP systems are preferred.

  • Baccalaureate degree.

  • Hybrid working style is equipped.

  • Working closely with global COE (Center of Excellence) team and Asia Pacific regional planners.
