Amazon APAC's Social Media Communications Team is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized Senior Social Media Manager to lead the continued development and growth of our @Amazon social media channels in Japan. The individual will lead on all aspects of social in Japan – social strategy development in alignment with our global reputational, brand and business goals; campaign, content and channel management; and measurement and evaluation.

For this, they will be working closely with Japan Business PR teams, the APAC Social Media Comms team, as well as Global Social Media Comms teams, to coordinate local delivery of social campaigns. The individual will lead our social media strategy and campaign development, while supporting the communication and amplification efforts to increase our businesses’ awareness and perception. Working with corporate and stores (consumer) communications teams, and establishing strong relationships with cross-channel marketing, the individual will develop a sound content strategy with a distinct & credible Amazon voice and robust execution plans to achieve measurable results.

The chosen candidate must have a strong understanding of the current social media landscape and a proven track record of creating successful strategic social media campaigns with measurable results, both organic and paid, working closely with internal or external clients.

We are seeking a strategic and creative thinker with strong writing skills and a keen eye for social-native content (across various media formats like video, static, etc.) who has a sharp understanding of building and leveraging consumer and reputational narratives on social media, and facilitating close collaboration with influencers and other opinion leaders. The successful candidate will be passionate, self-motivated, innovative and able to pivot when necessary in our fast-paced start-up culture.

This role reports into the APAC Social Media Comms Lead and will work closely with various in-country PR leads and the wider Global Social Media Comms Team to develop a social-first and audience-centric strategy, plans and campaigns to enhance Amazon’s reputation in the country across internal and external stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

Strategy: Developing and implementing our regional social media strategy in line with global reputational, brand, and business goals

Campaign and Project Management: Developing cross-country grid for proactive topics bringing together all teams (Corporate, Consumer, Ops, Entertainment, Devices, AWS), and supporting the development of in-country social media campaigns.

Content Management: Overseeing and supporting the team to develop best practice content into impactful audience-first, channel-sensitive, socially-native campaigns; supporting the development of thought leadership and user generated content

Channel Management: Lead the JP social media comms for @Amazon brand and News handles acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders and wider teams, creating and enhancing channel and community strategy, considering the different requirements for each digital platform. Note that Sprinklr is the key scheduling tool used.

Counsel communications teams on utilizing social media in PR efforts both proactively and reactively

Measurement and Evaluation: Developing and supporting local implementation of cohesive channel admin, social listening, monitoring, measurement of ROI and evaluation in line with global goals

Learning and Scaling: Creating playbooks and toolkits for all of the above

Leadership: Managing local social media agency partners and 1 contractor

Additional Requirements:

  • 8+ years’ experience developing and executing social media brand strategies

  • Proficient in both Japanese and English

  • Proficient in all platform features within X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, Line, Instagram, and other social channels

  • Experience in social media campaign planning including leading on major brand campaigns

  • Experience managing agency partnerships

  • Proven budget management skills

  • Educated to a degree level

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • 8+ years of developing and managing acquisition marketing or channel programs experience

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners
