Amazon Search Marketing Manager, Amazon in Tokyo, Japan

JP Marketing org is looking for an experienced and passionate Search Marketing Manager to join our Category & Channel Marketing team. The primary responsibilities of the Search Marketing team are to drive web site traffic, maximize channel revenue and improve customer experience. We manage Earned (SEO) and Paid Search channels (Text and Shopping Ads) on external search engines and run experiments with a view to programmatically improve our ROI and find levers to grow the Amazon Japan business.

In this position you will develop a detailed understanding of digital marketing (SEO/SEM in particular) and understand the long-term financial impact of customer behavior trends. The role requires a highly analytical mindset as well as a curiosity to seek out new possibilities. It encompasses planning executing, measuring, auditing, experimenting (bidding, elasticity tests) as well as identifying opportunities to scale and grow the channel efficiently. You should be strong at the analytical and technical side of marketing as well as the creative and experimental side, consistently using one to inform the other. You will be the single point of contact for specific areas of the business and will be the search team's expert for that product line, gathering insights and applying learnings to additional lines of business.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop deep search channel insights and understanding in partnership with retail teams, other marketing channel teams, and international stakeholders.

• Translate channel insights into test plans, product/feature proposals, and opportunities for optimization.

• Define and run tests, including A/B experiments to test new vendor features and/or inform new product development.

• Conduct in-depth analyses to refine our understanding of the search space and uncover optimization opportunities.

• Translate analytical findings into actionable insights and concise business actions and recommendations.

About the team

The Category & Channel Growth Marketing team manage a variety of programs, both paid and free, that generate sales and customer growth for Amazon Japan. Across critical categories that are under-penetrated on Amazon Japan and channels: including Search (SEM/SEO), Creators (Affiliates and Influencers), social media, Outbound (Email and Push Notification) and Mobile Ads. On the technology side, this team leads fundamental improvements to in-house ML targeting and bidding platforms underpinning the various marketing channels as well as JP expansion of global new marketing tech initiatives and automation to drive scale of their operations. This team is expected to create growth strategies across a range of product families, while also propose and drive change to operating models that enable agile innovation cycles and customer insight improvements to better serve the Japanese customer in their shopping journey.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience building and optimizing multiple, simultaneous marketing campaigns

  • Experience managing or working within cross-functional marketing and creative teams

  • Experience equally comfortable building strategic marketing plans and executing at a tactical level

  • Experience in audience segmentation and targeting

  • Able to generate ideas and solve problems independently and consistent with Amazon’s core principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in online retail/B2C marketing

  • Experience with brand strategy

  • Experience using any of SQL or other analytical tools for conducting data analysis
