About this role

BlackRock manages assets for a range of investment products - equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative investments - each supported by dedicated resources spanning portfolio management, trading, research and product strategy. The firm’s Private Debt Platform manages $86 billion of assets across Direct Lending, Opportunistic Credit, Multi-Strategy Credit, and Growth Lending Strategies, as of March 31, 2024. The Product Strategy team is embedded within Private Debt and members of this team serve as a link between the investment teams (PMs, traders and research analysts) and client businesses (retail and institutional). The ideal candidate for a role in Product Strategy will have product depth, presentation skills and a commercial mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the client business, marketing, and other key stakeholders to promote and support BlackRock’s Private Debt products in Japan

  • Conduct meetings with clients and prospects, including portfolio reviews, market updates, and presentations

  • Create and maintain product information and messaging, including materials for customized presentations and client engagement. Work closely with other members of the team to create convincing product strategy material with appropriate messaging and product positioning for sales teams

  • Monitor competitive universe: conduct research on competitors, and draft competitive positioning points for our strategies

  • Participate in new product development from idea generation to implementation partnering with a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Be responsive to client requests and queries, including supporting often very complicated and deep due diligence processes

  • Engage with local and regional management in relation to business planning and updates

  • Partner with colleagues in broader APAC, to support the marketing and client service efforts for the Private Debt Platform across the region

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Credit experience in a buy-side or sell-side is preferred

  • Strong analytical/quantitative proficiency, critical thinking, professional curiosity and problem-solving abilities.

  • Keen interest in financial markets (especially the public and private credit markets)

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and an ability to synthesize complex ideas

  • Knowledge of markets and institutions, regulatory frameworks across Japan

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in both Japanese and English, to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes

  • Disciplined organization and project management skills with the ability to multi-task quickly and efficiently

  • Self-starter who can work effectively on their own as well as with a team, while being resourceful and able to work with other groups to obtain the information necessary to complete tasks

  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
