Red Hat AppDev Consultant in Tokyo, Japan
Job Summary:
The Red Hat Consulting team is seeking an Application Development Consultant with extensive experience in JEE and Modern Application Design in Tokyo. In this role, you will leverage Red Hat's unique middleware application capabilities for DevOps, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Development (CD), container, and cloud-based projects. You will help us make our solutions practical and viable for customers' businesses. You will understand our customers' infrastructure and business needs, make recommendations to address their challenges, and help them make strategic decisions to adopt Red Hat technologies. As an Application Development Consultant, you will lead technical validation (Proof of Concept) and prototyping based on Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Application Services. You will then help our customers streamline their enterprise application development with a focus on cloud-native technologies and help them continuously improve feature releases. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about learning new technologies and expanding their expertise while visiting clients throughout Japan.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Able to design and deliver a standard solution implementation alone - Co-leads delivery for one product in a standard project
Contributes to architectural design translation and takes full ownership for individual tasks in a complex project
Assists in project planning and drives the team towards the goals that project leadership has put in place
Plays a key role in managing customer expectations
Can adapt their individual project tasks as customer environment issues come up
Can clearly articulate customer benefits of Red Hat technologies, services, and products
Trusted advisor to technical Red Hat and customer resources
Identifies future opportunities for other Red Hat products/services for their customers and alerts sales team
Actively guides consultants and associate consultants on their teams and provides feedback about their performance
Recognizes leadership opportunities on their own and is willing to take them on
Can confidently discuss the decisions of the team with leadership
Handles crucial one-on-one conversations with tact and facilitates positive resolutions
Able to explain their technical knowledge to non-technical audiences
Capable of presenting to customers, general public, or internal audiences in their area of expertise
Maintains Red Hat messaging in all communications
Has a few certifications related to their area of expertise(not limited to Red Hat certifications)
Actively consumes Red Hat advanced level training content (and/or pursues technical learning related to their projects)
Keeps up to date on new Red Hat training as it is updated
Embraces growth mindset in alignment with their yearly technical goals
Required Skills:
10+ years of experience with and advanced knowledge of middleware technologies, including enterprise web or middleware development project experience with application integration using products such as Camel, Kafka, Quarkus, Keycloak, API Management on Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
6+ years of experience working directly with enterprise stakeholders and architects on a range of development and deployment projects
Consulting and people skills
Experience providing technical leadership to a small team
Experience defining solutions architectures and designing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale workable solutions
Knowledge of software development methodologies, object-oriented design, and development principles, including enterprise integration and software design patterns
Understanding of Java frameworks such as Quarkus/ Spring boot.
Knowledge of DevOps or continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD) technologies like Tekton and Argo CD
Understanding of automation and scripting tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform - Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time to customer locations throughout Japan.
