We are seeking a Procurement professional to support the APJC data center operations space.

We are currently seeking a creative, driven, and forward-thinking sourcing and procurement professional to join our Data Center Services Procurement team in APJC.

This role focuses on Sourcing and onboarding suppliers in APAC for Data Centre capex procurement categories including but not limited to construction, energy and water infrastructure, controls, professional services. The role develops and leverages market intelligence to diversify and develop our supplier base in new and existing regions within APAC to ensure a robust supply base that enables the business to scale quickly to meet our customer needs. You will create sourcing plans for each category and quickly deliver these through supplier capability reviews, pre-qualification and onboarding and master contract negotiations. It is critical that you identify ways to forge partnerships with new suppliers, evaluate suppliers' performance against clearly defined metrics that you will develop or improve together with internal stakeholders, and balance priorities of both Amazon and our suppliers to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. You will continually monitor the effectiveness of these new partnerships and take appropriate actions to ensure ongoing competitive sustainability of our supplier markets for upcoming projects.

Key job responsibilities

• Understand business needs, internal customers’ requirements and concerns across all assigned categories, and then develop supplier sourcing strategies and timelines that addresses these specific business requirements, for each category and country, including but not limited to, category-specific characteristics, technical standards, local country regulations, local language, ease of doing business with suppliers in-market, and then acting as a project manager to drive to completion.

• Proactively engage, coordinate, communicate with internal customers regularly and expeditiously on all sourcing activities.

• Leverage market intelligence about the industry and supply market to identify viable suppliers for all assigned categories in existing and new regions, and to continually provide actionable insights to internal customers.

• Develop and implement key internal metrics/indicators to monitor and improve performance against business objectives, make informed business decisions and maintain sustainable supplier pools.

• Lead and manage all supplier onboarding activities, including negotiation of master contract terms with new suppliers to ensure they understand Amazon's business requirements.

• Drive process improvement initiatives that positively impact customers, stakeholders and the team. Create procedures and tools and simplify/improve those that already exist.

• Some travel is required (30%)

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain or Engineering or equivalent, from an accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 7+ years' relevant experience in sourcing/procurement/supply chain, in APAC countries and across diverse capex categories and project management.

• Experience in using market intelligence to aid sourcing/business activities, draw insights and communicating those insights to internal customers.

• Strong process improvement background with an emphasis on internal and external performance improvement and effectiveness mechanisms.

• Fluent in written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain or Engineering or equivalent, from an accredited university.

• Demonstrated success in leveraging market intelligence to develop sourcing plans and successfully implemented and delivered significant benefits to customers.

• Demonstrated success in a metrics-oriented environment and an ability to create, track, and report out on metrics.

• Industry and supplier market knowledge in all major data center capex categories and experience in its procurement.

• PMP, Six Sigma or similar certification.

• Fluent in languages beyond Japanese and English.
