Job Description
This position provides statewide leadership and specialist expertise in wildland fire predictive services. Predictive services include fire danger, fire behavior, fuels, weather, and intelligence (fire activity and resource status). The incumbent will support field operations as the technical expert in fire behavior and fuels and provide statewide and peninsular predictive service program expertise. This position will be a department representative to statewide, regional, and national predictive services-related committees and workgroups. This position will develop and update various guides and manuals for program management and will develop and conduct wildland fire training to staff and cooperators related to fire danger and fire behavior.
The location of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in forestry.
Experience
Four year of professional experience equivalent to a Forester, including two years equivalent to a Forester P11 or one year equivalent to a Forester 12.
Alternate Education and Experience
Alternate Education
A bachelor's degree in a field of natural resources with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in forestry-related courses.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
