Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the financial operation and integrity of the organization. Develops standards and processes for proper financial management and ensures compliance with regulations. Prepares financial reconciliations and reporting by collecting, reviewing, and summarizing account information. Leads strategic planning for accounting policies and maintaining internal controls over financial transactions. Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data. This is a leadership role where the Accounting Manager will work through others within the organization as well as be an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
Manage the Accounts Payable team
Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
Manages monthly closing of financial records and posting of all month end journal entries.
Reviews financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.
Reviews income statement trends to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
Prepare tax returns and ensure taxes are paid properly and on time.
Manage preparation of annual 1099 tax reporting for necessary vendors.
Provides accounting assistance to staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs; assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
Support year-end financial audits.
Handle reviews, hiring, and team structure.
Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
5 plus years of accounting experience
Ability to manage a team
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Previous leadership experience
High level of efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills
Excellent communication skills
Excel expert
