A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • This position will support Post-Market EU MDR remediation and implementation projects, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.

  • Provides technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout EU MDR projects’ lifecycle, driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

  • Collaborates with EU MDR project teams to develop Purchasing Controls deliverables for product families being remediated for EU MDR including but not limited to: Supplier Segmentation (i.e., feature/product quality impact assessment), Production Part Approval Process or equivalent (i.e., product qualification), Supplier Change Control, Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, Control Plans, etc.

  • This position will also support site Supplier Quality if or when employee’s capacity allows.

  • Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products.

  • Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities, to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products.

  • Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems.

  • Conducts, analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses.

  • Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as EU MDR project support, production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS

Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor, working under limited supervision, and providing assistance and training to lower level employees.

Runs minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, developing reports.

Organizational Impact: Performs technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects.

Work consists of technical tasks that are typically not routine.

Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general, and may require some analysis to understand and resolve.

Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.

Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts.

Obtains and provides technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.

Leadership and Talent Management: Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires complete and broad knowledge of operational systems, techniques and practices typically gained through extensive experience and/or education.

Requires minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
