Amentum Lead Refrigeration Mechanic in Thumrait, Oman
The Lead Refrigeration Mechanic maintains, repairs, installs and operates refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, combustible equipment, industrial air compressors and related equipment items. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
Principal Accountabilities
Installs, modifies, repairs and operates refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and related control systems and equipment.
Performs installation tasks involving assembling, testing, calibrating and adjusting control systems for prime movers and dual equipment cooling installations and specialized refrigeration.
Diagnoses and isolates unusual malfunctions to individual system components.
Uses special pressure, temperature and analysis test equipment to determine efficiency and effectiveness of refrigeration cooling.
Adjusts, calibrates and aligns components for optimum operating efficiency within design limitations.
Installs, modifies, repairs and operates plant systems and equipment according to applicable Technical Publications and directives.
Inspects refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and related control systems and equipment.
Inspects completed or in progress work for compliance with standard operating procedures, safety standards and technical publications.
Prepares and completes documentation including Work Orders, USAF Supply and Amentum forms and updates Maximo.
Performs inspections to determine operational condition of systems and equipment on Harvest Falcon assets in accordance with Maintenance Action Sheets and related USAF technical publications.
Prepares assets/equipment for air/sea/road haul shipments in accordance with Technical Orders, Manuals, Checklists, Regulations, Maintenance Action Sheets and UTC Configuration listings.
Performs servicing and/or maintenance of in-use assets as required.
Ensures all tools, personal protective equipment and clothing issued remain safe, secure and serviceable reporting any deficiencies.
As directed by the Superintendent will carry out maintenance and repair, to include minor corrosion control on any BEAR order of Battle (BOB) Asset and will assist in loading/unloading of assets.
Perform other tasks and duties as directed by Amentum/USAF tasking.
May be required to assist other departments when directed or requested to accomplish a specific task or project.
Performs Temporary Duty (TDY) within the Area of Operation as required by the USAF/Amentum tasking.
Responsible for coordinating with other departments outside of BOB for support functions.
Responsible for coordinating and directing day to day maintenance operations and ensuring personnel are performing to their maximum capability.
Conducts on-the-job (OJT) training for his assigned staff on assigned equipment. In addition, trains his staff on safety, Safety Data Sheets, security awareness and other subjects in accordance with appropriate plans. Prepares and updates training records.
Responsible for ensuring all technicians adhere to prescribed quality, environmental and safety standards.
Perform pre, during and final quality inspections on equipment that is in the production process.
Completes quality documentation on inspections accomplished within the work center.
Reports any situations that affect production capability and output that cannot be resolved at the work center level to the Power Generation Supervisor.
Adheres to applicable USAF/Amentum/Host Nation/AFOSH/OSHA Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
Utilizes equipment manuals to identify required parts and provide necessary information to complete supply requisitions.
Prepares and submits Quality Deficiency Reports, Material Deficiency Reports and incorporates Technical Order Changes, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Works in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
Minimum Requirements
Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to understand, speak, read and write English at an intermediate level.
Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
Will be required to operate material handling equipment.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Five years of Military or civilian experience in the field of refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, combustible equipment, industrial air compressors and related equipment items required.
Certified refrigeration technician through a military and or civilian formal technical training required.
May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs. and performing extensive work handling/lifting equipment.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to read and understand technical data, plans/blueprints and publications pertaining to BOB assets or similar Department of Defense Agencies Contingency Systems preferred.
Maximo experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with BOB assets or similar Department of Defense Agencies Contingency Systems preferred.
Two years' experience in a supervisory position preferred.
