Position Summary:

Produces radiographs of various portions of the body according to physician’s request. Teaches radiographic technique and oversees mechanical quality assurance of imaging equipment.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Develops radiographs using an automatic processor, checks for desired results, and provides expertise in difficult patient situations.

  2. Performs special procedures and problem solves issues with radiographic equipment.

  3. Provides expertise on computerized radiographic software issues.

  4. Forwards radiographs to the radiologist for review and interpretation. Produces radiographs in satellite facilities.

  5. Oversees quality assurance on all radiological equipment. Cleans and maintains processors.

  6. Ensures accurate timing and positioning techniques.

  7. Processes the necessary paperwork for billing purposes and accepts payment.

  8. Provides training and guidance to lower level Radiologic Technicians.

  9. Adheres to laboratory safety procedures.

  10. Monitors inventory supplies and initiates orders as needed.

  11. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

  12. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Current licensure as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by the Texas Medical Board and

Registered Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

Minimum Education:

Graduate from an approved two year program in Radiologic technology.

Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in radiology technology

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
