Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Director of Sales & Marketing in The parish of St.Philip, Sam L, Barbados

Wyndham Grand is now seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to join our team at Sam Lord's Castle Wyndham Grand Resort in Barbados, Belair.

Job summary

To lead and direct sales and marketing strategies. The responsibility includes increasing brand visibility, driving reservations, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. Through team management, the development of key relationships, and the execution of effective strategies, the ultimate goal is to position the hotel as an exclusive destination and ensure continuous growth in a luxury environment. He/she is also responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that Room revenues and Catering revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel’s performance in the marketplace.

The purpose is ultimately to achieve financial success and customer satisfaction for the hotel.

Principal task & responsabilities

Supervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales & Marketing Department.

Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations. Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales & marketing team.

Meet or exceed set goals.

Develop and execute strategic account plans for all accounts. This includes setting SMART goals against each account, committing to a calendar of customer facing activities, and proactive reach out via phone and email.

Facilitate quarterly business reviews for all accounts to share insights, recommendations, and update customers on WH&R’s portfolio of brands and properties, as well as any upcoming promotions. These reviews also provide an opportunity to solicit customer feedback, understand changing business needs and identify potential business opportunities.

Engage in customer facing activities such as annual partner meetings, conferences, tradeshows and sales missions to strengthen customer relationships and identify opportunities to drive additional revenue.

Manage the contract negotiation, execution and on-boarding of new accounts. Manage all contract changes and/or renewals with existing accounts.

Conduct weekly sales meetings according to Wyndham standards.

Develop quarterly KRA’s and review the KRA process with the Sales and Catering Team to ensure that deadlines are met.

Conduct daily Wyndham Business Review (WBR) meeting with Sales and Catering, operations staff and General Manager.

Be familiar with all Wyndham sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Banquet and Catering revenues.

Conduct all Sales and Catering Team Performance Appraisals according to Wyndham SOP’s.

Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all Sales and Catering department personnel according to Wyndham SOP’s.

eview meeting planner evaluations as received to ensure that any problems are rectified.

Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property, and ensure that all Sales Managers conduct thorough site inspections.

Coordinate group, transient, and catering bookings to maximize profits. Coordinate the preparation of the annual revenue budget and coordinate the preparation of the annual Marketing Plan.

Coordinate and direct preparation of the monthly Rooms revenue reforecast for the current and upcoming months and assist in ensuring accuracy within 5% margin of error.

Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.

Ensure account revenue on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis meets or exceeds sales goals.

Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget.

Education & experience

  • At least 6 years of progressive all-inclusive hotel sales & marketing experience

  • Management experience required

  • Must have a driver’s license in the applicable state

  • Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing

  • English Native speaker

  • Having worked in a large hotel, of a size comparable to Wyndham Grand Barbados. It could be as number one or maybe as number two (Associate Director)

  • A very strong knowledge of the All-Inclusive market

  • Deep knowledge of the Caribbean tourism market and industry trends

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
