You will manage all accounting and external reporting matters for a mid-size business unit. In addition, you will partner effectively with our external auditor to address complex accounting topics and to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of results. You will also work with our Mondelēz International Digital Services organization to ensure the accurate and timely reporting, and proper reconciliations for all accounts in the market. You will foster a strong connection with the regional team and when appropriate, with our corporate controlling team to ensure full compliance with Mondelēz International’s Accounting and External Reporting (AER) policies and that we are adopting all U.S. GAAP accounting standards in a timely manner. You will also ensure we comply with all local accounting standards, and file financial statements and indirect tax returns/payments (e.g. VAT, excise tax, sales tax) in a timely manner.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Manage all accounting and external reporting matters for a mid-size business unit, including ensuring accurate and timely U.S. GAAP reporting and the timeliness and integrity of statutory financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and KPIs. You will also provide insights into balance sheet movements and cash flow and ensure account reconciliations, intercompany charges, fixed assets, and restructuring are signed off for the business unit.

  • Drive a strong controls and compliance environment in the business unit and ensure full compliance with Mondelēz International AER policies. You will also serve as the primary contact with our external auditor for your business unit.

  • Address complex accounting topics in coordination with the Region Controller and ensure the timely adoption of all U.S. GAAP Accounting Standards in the business unit. You will also support the business on policy interpretation for changes in process or M&A activity.

  • Drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP and build a mindset of continuous improvement in the business unit team.

  • Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER) team (Mondelēz International employees and actively manage the relationship with Mondelēz International Digital Services and third party providers). You will also recruit and develop talent and drive our AER talent agenda in the business unit.

  • TECHNICAL EXPERTISE in accounting and external reporting including understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS or local GAAP, close processes and financial reporting systems. Expertise in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting. General knowledge of tax laws and indirect and direct tax

  • BUSINESS ACUMEN and an understanding of our business and finance beyond the accounting and external reporting scope. Big Four accounting firm experience preferred.

  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS including proven business partnering and communication skills across a large global, public company. Experience of working as a finance leader managing global, cross- functional and business partner teams to drive timely and accurate results.

  • GROWTH/DIGITAL MINDSET and the ability to identify opportunities and leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • INTEGRITY and sound judgement in all decisions and interactions aligned with our values and policies and external regulations.

What you need to know about this position:

  • Accountable for guaranteeing the accuracy of the preparation and submission of the Financial Statements in accordance with the Accounting Principles and policies established by Local Authorities and the Headquarter. As part of this, is responsible for the preparation of the financial package to support the consolidation process at corporate level, observing given deadlines.

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including supervising a team of staff, and tightly monitoring the balance sheet and income statement. Supervise periodic accounting close processes to ensure that all financial statements are prepared timely and accurately.

  • Lead technical accounting process for significant and/or special transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, debt modifications, and refinancing) occurring throughout the year, and assist in processes to ensure that such transactions are properly accounted for in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. Prepare and maintain documentation, including memorandum and technical analysis, to support the Company’s accounting position for such transactions.

  • Monitor and coordinate the activities to ensure integrity in generating Financial Statements. The coordination should certify that we are obtaining the best services they may provide, including Close monitor of reported figures, active participation in the meetings about effectiveness, timely issues resolution, enhances the harmonization within Regions. It also includes the monitoring to ensure comply with SLAs to avoid disruptions during day-to-day operations. Finally, ensure local statutory compliance, through the third party designed.

  • Accountable for ensuring adherence to established financial and operating procedures and controls throughout the company in order to guarantee their full execution and monitoring financial risks areas in an appropriate manner. Responsible to manage external audits for statutory and USGAAP books, ensuring compliance to the rules, including SOX controls.

  • Play an active role in timely identification of any unusual item that could impact P&L (either positive or negative) to allow impacted teams to react to that and find alternative plans. To be able to do it the person in charge for the position needs to stay connected with the teams generating the financial figures and also play an active role in the preparation and review of reconciliations of the Balance Sheet for the entire Company.

  • This position will be responsible for providing accounting support for the tax accounting across region, including Indirect Taxes (Local Statutory and USGAAP) and Labor as well as collaborating with tax teams in business acquisitions / divestures, investments projects and support the planning / treasury areas regarding tax planning, variances analysis etc.

Education / Certifications:

  • Educated to degree level in accountancy or finance, preferably with post-graduate degree

  • Big Four CPA experience

  • Min 10 years’ experience

  • Experience managing direct reports

  • Accounting, Reporting and Indirect Taxes

  • Advanced English Level

  • Advanced Excel Skills

  • CPG Accounting experience (plus)

  • Preferred SAP, HFM, FIT knowledge
