McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track Assistant/Associate Professor,Pediatric/Congenital Interventional Cardiologist positionin theChildren's Heart Institute, Division of Pediatric Cardiology.

The Children’s Heart Institute (CHI) is seeking a pediatric/congenital interventional cardiologist to join our rapidly expanding team. The CHI team is internationally recognized for providing patients with excellent quality cardiac care for children and adults with congenital heart defects.

There are 27 cardiologists offering acute care, fetal, cardiac MR/CT, interventional, electrophysiology, heart failure, transplant, pulmonary hypertension, exercise physiology, preventive and community cardiology services along with 4 dedicated congenital heart surgeons. The hospital has a 20-bed dedicated cardiac ICU, 20 intermediate care beds, and a 120-bed NICU. Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital is ranked in the top 30 pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery programs in the 2023-2024 US News & World Report. The program has a robust general pediatric cardiology fellowship with advanced fellowships in fetal, CT/MRI, and CICU.

Candidates with experience will be preferred although graduating interventional fellows are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services. Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Actively participate in congenital interventional procedures, ensuring the highest quality of care and patient outcomes.

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, technologists, and support staff

  • Collaborate with other cardiology subspecialties, surgeons, and referring physicians to optimize patient care and outcomes.

  • Teach and mentor fellows/residents/medical students/advanced care practitioners.

  • Participate in clinical or basic science research and/or other scholarly activities.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO degree, or equivalent

  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent

  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology, or equivalent

  • Advanced fellowship training in pediatric/congenital interventional cardiology with a minimum of an additional 12 months of training beyond general cardiology fellowship training

  • Texas Medical License or eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
