UTHealth Houston’s Cizik School of Nursing is hiring for an Assistant Simulation Technician to join their team of professionals. The Assistant Sim Tech will be responsible for preset up, setup, breakdown, and clean-up of simulation labs, cleaning and maintenance of task trainers, manikins, and equipment, and setting up the technology needs for manikins. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Word and Excel.

Position Summary:

Provide technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation and medical equipment, as necessary.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation and medical equipment, as necessary.

  • Conduct ongoing maintenance of all medical and simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.

  • Set-up and take-down simulators, medical equipment, and supplies for all sessions. May participate in teaching-related activities.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates. .

  • May obtain cadavers from the UT Human Structure facility, maintain records and transports to and from the laboratory and assist in preparing them.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the facility and equipment and assists users of the facility during training sessions.

  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation and medical equipment catalogs and operation manuals.

  • Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience:

None required.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
